Miami County 4H Fair General Rules June 26th &27th 7pm
Any questions call Mark Elrod (1-765-469-2111) or Mason Elrod (1-765-469-1837)
These rules are developed with cost of car construction in mind. That being said, there is always ones that spend more than others. Cars constructed to rules should be competitive. Cars are to be built to rules or not run. If certain items are not specified, it doesn't mean it's legal. The official decision will be final, so call if there is something you are not clear on. All vehicles must be at fairgrounds to be inspected 1 hour before show time. Any cars arriving late will not be eligible to compete unless prior arrangements have been made. This shouldn't be a problem since I'm not running. Entry fee is non refundable, so if you can't make your vehicles legal then you will lose your money. Only registered drivers allowed in inspection lane. Your vehicle must be inspected before you can run. After the derby is over and if you feel a winner is not legal, a driver can protest by paying a hundred dollar protest fee. If a vehicle is deemed illegal, protesting driver gets money back and the illegal driver is disqualified. If the protested car is deemed legal, protested vehicle gets money. Must be initiated within ten minutes of the class event being finished Only officials, protesting driver, protested driver allowed during reinspection. No alcohol or drugs on grounds. If caught, disqualified and possibly arrested. Pit crew included. No hot rodding in the pits, keep at idle. Be safe. If you are caught purposely tearing up the grass you will be told to leave by the fair board. Officials’ decisions are final. No unsportsmanlike conduct will be tolerated. Vehicles must be removed from the fairgrounds by noon Sunday. No one on track except drivers (exception for the power wheel event). Could result in disqualification and forfiture of any prize money. Drivers must be 18 years of age. Ages 14-17 must have notarized permission slip from parent or guardian, valid i.d. required (Exception power wheels no one older than 10) All drivers must fill out insurance form and entry form to participate. Entry fee is non-refundable. We want to keep this event safe and fun. Remember that kids are in the stand and pits, conduct yourself accordingly. Please keep an eye on kids in pits especially.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES
Drivers must wear helmets, eye protection, helmets, long sleeve shirts, pants (No shorts, legs get burnt) regular shoes (no sandals, flip flops, etc) gloves and fire suit are recommended. All drivers must attend drivers meeting. Drivers and riders must wear safety belts. Don't hit drivers’ door or passenger door if passenger present. Accidents happen, but if careless or intentional, you're out. Don't get out of the vehicle in the arena unless told to by an official. Pay attention to flagmen when participating. Flags green-go, red-stop, black-disqualified, checker- winner winner chicken dinner. Allowed 1 fire restart if deemed safe by officials. Second fire you're out If vehicle appears to be at risk of injury to driver, spectator, or officials, you may be disqualified example open door, loose battery, loose gas tank, fuel leak, etc. Make sure gas tank gas lines, battery, are secure and safe. If not you wont run. Brakes must work. No sandbagging or holding. You are given 30 seconds for aggressive hits, one minute for restarts, one minute if you're hung up. Flagmen decision is final. Try to keep drivers compartment free of jagged objects. Keep hands, arms, head etc inside vehicle at all times.
