Quick question. What would be best way to spend my money. Build up a vortec 5.7 or spend the money on a ls 5.3 The only thing is I run a 3 speed normally too.

This is the only thing that stumps me, 88+ i believe are reverse flow coolant engines, so how could it be getting water through it with a v belt going standard rotation, it just doesnt work... i have tested it, this is just stumping me

L99, lt4 and lt1 in f bodies, b bodies and vettes were the only "reverse flow" blocks. A 96-99 vortec block isn't reverse flow.

They are still a standard flow cooling setup. Even with a reverse pump, besides the series of engines I listed above. okay... i just wasnt sure on this, thanks

if a guy wanted to put vortec heads on an older 350, what would you have to change besides the intake manifold?

Nothing, bolt on and go.

you will need the rocker arms and valve covers from the vortec heads also... but pushrods will still be 7.8(ish)

I thought the self aligning rocker arms were only needed if you were roller?

I thought the self aligning rocker arms were only needed if you were roller? I think we had this conversation about a year ago lol look at the holes the pushrods go down through in the heads. Perimeter bolt heads have an oval shaped hole to guide the pushrod. New style have a round hole. All roller engines require self aligning and Im 99% sure that all tbi engines do also.

I had an engine come in a few years ago with world heads that had guide plates and someone had put self aligning rockers on it....and reused the stock pushrods.... Talk about a ticking time bomb

Just got one of these with a 2g carb on it. Runs ok but could be better. Anyone know what jets and shit would work good with the 2g? Engine is stock.
