I move my holes out on box cars. Starting the tire at a lean outward before they get bent in. I always start with my spindle close to the frame so when it gets hit the frame helps asorb the impact instead of just the ball joint. But there are a lot of variables like what ball joints, spindles, control arms, welding arms down, etc.

May i ask why your changing them from the 80's style?? I'm sure to gain height. Yep to gain height is one reason another is I have a couple sets of 70s a arms and no box ford a arms. One other plus is with the 70s a arms it puts the bj and spindle closer to the side of the spring pocket. I haven't touched a metric in 5-6 years so most of my parts are all for old iron rides.

Ive always ran metric GM upper control arms. Either Astro, S10, or full size cars, depending on what year metric Ford I was building. I have no experience to offer with the 70s ford control arms. Iv seen a few guys run the g body/s10 uppers, I think with the rules I'm building to the offset of those would give me a slight advantage over 70s gm or box vic. I might have to hit the junkyard and see what I can dig up.

Yet to break one doing it this way an never had a tire lay in a lock up like most do. Just one of them things was like let's try this since on our gm we pull all the shims out let's see how ford's like this.

Are early 90s vic suspension and a-arms the same as 80's? I am needing suspension stuff for my 03 and read that 80s arms are better. I have a 90 and a 91 vic in my possession but wondered if I need to find a better year for my swap?

Them years still have the good a-arms... If they are square body they will have to the stamped steel a-arms. Lincoln changed body styles 2 years before crown vics so there are still some bubble lincoln out there with the upper stamped steel a-arms...

'96 merc with the 2 bolt steering box. Which line is the pressure line and which is the return? Trying to hook it up to a '70s 351w with the "pencil neck" power steering pump.

I have an 89 vic and keep breaking steering boxes last one actually breaking my wrist... What other boxes will fit it or what can I do to keep this from happening?
