I would have kept it under and sucked those springs down till they were flat, then clamped them. You want those springs as straight as you can get them, especially if you want the ass of the car to be tough.

The ass end ain't moving lol got a friend around 260lbs and its not bouncing or moving around

He's not talking about the bounce in the leafs. He's talking about using the leafs to strengthen your rear frame rails. I can elaborate if you don't understand why this is different.

We were sitting almost 3 ft high with the axle under leafs we were able to get it down to 2ft but needed to be lowered more but couldn't

Take the leaf pack apart and flip every other one and it will sit a ton lower and be a lot stronger once clamped.

^Ditto, while I was at it I would drill out the leaf springs to be able to run a 1/2 centering pin. To drill the spring use a masonry bit. To clamp the springs down I've taken a few pieces of like 6" long square tubing and run a piece of all thread through each and and that way it squeezes the springs together but keeps them contained

Would never recommend tucking a leaf spring car... I tuck 99% of my leafed cars and never had any sort of issue. Guess id like to hear this reasoning. There's more than one way to build the rear of a leaf car with good results My bad. My mind read notched for some reason. Yes, tucking is okay, notching isn’t haha

Have you ran an Action Auto demo or been to the Wausau demo lately? This looks and sounds like it will be very underbuilt for that show.

There's more than one way to build the rear of a leaf car with good results I mean, I guess if your trying to kewp the whole backend straight. Ive always thought a short leaf and tucking, let the back come in to the tuck and leafs giving the back end less leverage was way more effective.
