Richie and I are looking for opinions for a filler class at The Indianapolis Good Guys Derby. The set classes are going to be Full Size Pro Mod and Full Size Stock, but we are looking for another filler class. Last year was 5 foot cars, we can run them again or are willing to look at others. This would be Something like a Guaranteed $500.00 plus 100% payback entries of this class. We need some suggestions quickly as we want to post rules very soon.
Please post your ideas and we will go from there!
Thanks for your support
Will

Bone stock fwd unibody class. No welding other than floating cage, OEM motor, bumpers bolted on, no creasing. Just move the tank and battery and run. Classes seem to be taking off due to availability of vehicles and ease of building.
Or try a minivan derby, those are always entertaining to watch.

I haven't ran there, but have been to watch once. Full size or mini trucks With decent limited weld rules? Its a big change of pace for about any show IMO.

stock truck shows usually(not always..) suck because the front ends left stock just suck. just a few hits, and you have a field of dead, or limping trucks making crappy contact. I understand stock for ease of build and getting new blood in, but a car bumper, some core support help and a few added bed bolts, and you have a much better show with not too much work.

We ran a handful of wire truck shows in central illinois this year and had a blast. 1/2 ton only Welded front bumpers drivers door and rear ends. I ran 7 shows with a 96 suburban using nothing but the front end and it never moved. Definitely think this is a class that will be picking up in this area. 1 show was actually in a full weld show with 18 other trucks and still ran 3rd with a good possibility of the win until the motor shut down, just wish I would have had that big RPMW performance engine in for that run.

Thanks for all the input. Really thinking about the limited build trucks, someone could easily build one in a day or two. This could bring the possibility of 2000's truck/suburban winning. This would help even the novice builder give trucks a try without having to own a 60's or 70's truck.
What do you all think about running a 1/2 ton only limited build truck class. Kind of what CFM 714 is talking about?
Let us know
Thanks
Will

Painkiller that's about what our trucks was this year. If they go with trucks I'll be in mine and have my 17 yr old daughter back in my 2nd truck for this show.

Mild built trucks, huh! I like the idea! Let it be at least 3/4 ton.

I might be in for a mild truck build or a regular truck class. I agree must have car bumpers atleast and few other little modifications.

I think bumpers should have to be non-loaded, non-home made bumpers. No welding anywhere but bumper and drivers door. Would be a damn cool truck show
