If you want to get creative, flip the hood over and bend the side lip up. I'm surprised more doesn't go into the hood like all the trunk fab'ing we see. It would probably be better to get a hood that is too big, then modify away. scott Im working with a 69 newport, so I got plenty of hood to work with lengthwise at least. I agree, I neglected the hood on my last car and I think it could've made a big difference if I had put more thought into it, and stopped my fenders from twisting so bad Thanks for the pics stromi

We have used old iron monte and other mid size hoods to replace the aluminum trunks on vics with pretty good success though.

That's just some random and unusual combinations that I have experimented with.

Just a random hood. Ever thought of splitting the hood exactly in half on both sides and beating the hood lip over the sheet metal you fold? Obviously it will give if the seam isn't welded but prolly wouldn't hurt either way IMO. Do like how far you you have it folded, my first one gave right at the end of the fold. I didn't get rid of the reinforcement in the middle either lol just beat on it and kept tightening the bolts. Turns out a lot cleaner without it in there!

That hood bent exactly where the fold stopped. On the next one, the fold would go all the way to the front hood brace where the allthread also goes through. Basically just a couple more inches forward than what is in that picture. Of course, this is as always just experimental. I make it up as I go.

I'm definitely folding mine further forward next time. Mine puked out right at the end of the fold and the frame popped right in front of the a frames directly below. This thread is full of good ole' stuff duke.

If only my fair rules allowed the hoods to be welded down!!! Do u think it would be very tough with only 6 hood bolts, which only 2 can tie to the frame?!? With my rules, I feel like less is more, as far as taking away material! What do Ya think?!?

this is my local fair rules, we use 2 bolts in back of hood into firewall and chains in front but we are allowed to use #9 wire which we put 2 on front of hood in headlights and around bumper, then 2 on each side about a foot apart. we use wire on doors and trunk as well and fenders. yes we are allowed to weld or chain and in most cases we do but we also add the wire because you can never have enough ways to tie everything together..
