I am using 6cyl hemis we are not allowed any holes in firewall unless it's for power leads and fuel line we are very limited to our rules over here in Australia because we have a problem with going hard or not going at all. And our cars end up a mess

A mistake I saw a buddy make during our first derby together.. Don't go too crazy when you're cutting your fenders.

My advice is when you get on the track keep your head on a swivel, the hits you don't see coming are the ones that hurt. 95% of the bumps , cuts, or bruises I have had over the years are for that very reason. It's also good practice to keep your mouth shut in the pits. To many times you see some kid talking smack about how he is gonna clean house with grams old grocery getter only to end up getting wasted by who ever he irritated, most of them get discouraged and never run again. Run for the rush, not the trophy. This is good advice, and based off your avatar I would guess you've run in Delaware county NY, and being a local I can attest to the amount of trash talk that doesn't get backed up.

Make sure your fuel line is in a safe area, and wont get pinched. That's what took me out on my first derby. A simple thing that could have been bad for me if it tore.

Some people play psych games to piss you off so you mash the gas easyer...a name comes to mind ;-)
Frequently they will pick something to bitch about on your car... for example the washers you use are to big.
Dont let the sob into your head...
If you do...at least hit the fr hard :-)

had a good running car 3 months before show time, get to the track starter wire goes bad and drive goes out in tranny (still got second place in a 1990 front wheel drive dodge) so just remember if something can go wrong it will even at the worse time possible no matter how much you check it or replace it....

Not all transmissions are created equal....so don't beat on it,till your ready to junk it,or be ready to sit still.

Trim your bumper corners and ends! I'm in my 3rd year of running and it kept me from a grand this summer because I got caught up 3 times and I got caught up twice the week before and kept me outta the top 3, I need to learn to cut em, it's always the small things you over look! And if the car isn't ready don't take it! I rushed mounting my battery box just to make it and it broke off the floor and cut my fuel line and I didn't know it and my electric fuel pump filled the car with gas and 1 spark from my wiring and boom. Whole car was engulfed in flames, reminds me to make sure my seat belt and clips work well because mine wouldn't unclipped and I almost didn't make it out.
