when I run a charging system I usually put it on its own circuit with its own switch rather than have it share a circuit with the ignition. Just as a fail-safe strategy.

Has anyone ever used a turn key switch instead of a toggle switch ? If so what pros and cons are for it ?

my brother used an turn key ignition for a tractor this year. he liked it but i dont like the idea of somebody swiping your key or you losing it. i use a 3 switch house electrical box. i've ran it 3 or 4 years with no issues. i like having the starter on a toggle so if the car dies you can keep it cranking and mess with wires or whatever and have both hands free.

I have allways ran inline fuses. But on my last build, I ran two circuit breakers from Advanced Auto wired parallel. I don't trust them because they are made in China. If I could find a quality high amperage one then I would run just one. The only advantage of a circut breaker is that it will reset itself after it cools down if somthing has a temporary short or gets accidentally grounded out. I would love to find a high amperage one for my alternator as well. Try a Freightliner dealership

When you use toggle switchs for ignition, fuel... do you guys leave the "flip cap" on them? I'm scared that with the momentum when I will hit someone, the cap will go down and shut everything off? I would like to keep them because my cars are alvways outside and they would provide a better protection from the elements... And they were cheaper at the parts store than the ones without flip covers!!
Just want to have your opinion and experience...
Thanks!

We use aircraft quality flip switches. Have never had one pop down from impact. Got ours off of Ebay. And we store our car outside also. We just cover them with a rubber floor mat, to keep the rain off.

Take a side cutter and cut the spring out of them. Flipper still works but you have to physically shut them off as opposed to barely touch them and they turn off.

I have a mallory HEI for my 350, 350 is stock bore, summit 1103 cam, double roller timing chain, 187 heads with Z28 springs and stainless valves. My question is do I leave the weights in the distributor or take them out?

Has anyone tried using a house light switch for a toggle? I currently have it wired in but will it handle the abuse?
