Thanks for your reply Redneck. I was considering trying it but was a little concerned about the stuff screwing up the plug wires and cap. But if you say it works I might just try it in up coming derby on Sunday and see what it does.

What base and filter do you run a 2bbl rochester? I've ran week edelbrock for years, but started with rochester and just used the stock air filter base and top.

Stock air cleaner is the best for air shaping in a derby car! Cut the snorkel off (I always used my chop saw), bend the locating tab up so you can spin it around and point it toward the passenger side firewall and you are set.

Scott is there a particular brand of filter you have works better then others. Not juat for flow but dirt collection and over all capabilities.

Personally you would be much happier stepping down to a 600 performer series or 650 thunder series for that combination.

Or a 2G or Holley 4412.
Really wouldnt mind hearing an opinion on this though. (Motor guys or people hip with the fuel injection) New fuel injection (the ones that bolt on to a carb intake) is coming out, and they are really bringing down price and packaging. FItech has one for 799, self learning, whole deal. Only a few wires really. They even got this slick new set up that mounts somewhere in the car where you run your regular fuel pump to it, only pushing 5-7 psi or whatever, and it has a pump built into it that puts out whatever is needed (think its 58) and then you run the return line right back into it. Still have some concerns about it, mostly about does the self learning keep a table for when a motor is really hot, or is it trying to self learn that and tune only when it happens, and how fast could it do that if it were the case.
I still stand by the statements that carbs are simple and cheap. But are we really that far out from this becoming a somewhat standard tech in our area of motorsports?

Idk man..... I've always went with the "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." Obviously we are all aware of a carb's short falls.... But honestly I don't think there is much to gain here.... In my opinion.... Fuel injection won't offer much, if any advantage over a properly setup and most importantly, well maintained carburetor in our situation.

I agree, for the most part, and have said for ever a properly set up 2G will work for what I will need in this sport. I just wonder if it tuning when hot would give an advantage, and if so would those people always looking for that little advantage use it. There's also one that can control timing if im not mistaken, which I can see the advantage. New tech regardless is cool, in say a street car buying a new 4 barrel is almost obsolete.

It would require some custom tune work to adapt to that environment.

WHAT IS FUNNY IS THAT THERE IS AN ENGINE BUILDER WHO WAS CLAIMING THAT THE CARB THEY WERE PUSHING PEOPLE TO BUY WOULD EVEN RUN IF THE CAR WAS UPSIDE DOWN. GUESS THEY FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE OIL PRESSURE DROPS TO ZERO WHEN THE SUMP IS UNCOVERED. YEAH, REALLY GOOD TO HAVE IT CONTINUE TO RUN WITH NO OIL..... HA HA SMH.....

Guess its just my natural interest in newer tech that brought the question up. Still stand by the 2G, just wonder if there is something there. I bet it wont be far out that we see it pop up on some engine.

WHAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO COME UP WITH IS A ROCHESTER 2 BARREL CARB TO TBI INTAKE ADAPTOR. I KNOW THE FLOW ON THE TBI INTAKE IS NOT ON PAR WITH A 2 BARREL IRON INTAKE, IT WOULD SAVE ALOT OF TIME AND HASSLE SWAPPING INTAKES ON THE DISPOSABLE TBI ENGINES.
