My 14 bolt has at least 20 runs on it no problems. It is braced across the top and back and has a 4:56 gear in it. Moser makes aftermarket axles for them but from my experience I don't know that they would be worth the money. I always take an extra axle with me just in case. I will try to have Nate from CI-DS post a pic of it for me.

Looks like it should work just fine. You may find the top trailing arm mounts close to th packing tray in a Vic. By the way the pic of mine it's under a friends 98 up Vic.

I was going to weld up the spider gears in a 14 bolt and found this. I figured I could just weld up the gears like any other rear-end that I've ran. There was some surface rust inside I was able to take my finger and wipe it off. Whoever was inside of this rear previously did a poor job of sealing the backing plate looks like they never bothered to put silicone back on took about 2 quarts of oil out is all. I think they hold a max of 3 but not sure. Is this limited slip??? Is this good to have? Never really been in a rear-end to change gears or have much knowledge on them. Attachments:

2- 3 quarts is very normal, nothing to worry about and as far as the minor rust film, when rear ends set for a long time there is air inside the housing and as the air heats and cools with temperature differences outside it will condensate and make a slight rust fil unless the gears are etched very bad its nothing to sweat over at all

I guess I never made my question clear enough. The thing around the spider gears what is that? Is it limited slip? Is this good to have I'm guessing no don't really know what limited slip is. I was going to weld the spiders in it and found it covering up the spiders.

How about just welding the spiders to the thing whatever it is? I guess it's the carrier?

Take the carrier out, remove ring gear, you can then split it in two. There will be a cross pin that looks like at x, take the whole cluster out. Put it in a vise to hold it all together and tack the gears in a few spots. Be sure to set it back down in the carrier section to make sure you dont have anything out of whack. If it drops down in good take it back out and weld away. But after welding a few for mud trucks I agree, buy a mini spool!
