transmission ratio has a lot to do with final drive ratio. i personally run a 28in tall tire kurb kicker style with a 700r4 trans and a 5.13 gear. thats really steep but i run on asphalt

7.00x15's(29") 3.50 gear, th400, roller 305. Working on my next car with same engine/trans running 4.88's with a set of 27" tall v treads. If I can sell them im wanting to try maybe a 25" with 4.88's or a 23" with the 3.50's

For you that runn the real small tires like 12" on back of your cars how much do you notice your gear ratio changing? I run 8.50-15 skids now with 4.56 and in the past 15 years have always ran 5.57 or 5.13 and would like to get back to that final ratio i was at ,will the 5.70-12 skids get me close to that again or should i just get rid of the 4.56 and go back to deeper set?

They have fomulas out there to figure gear ratio to tire hieght for drag racing ect...In general a shorter tire will make the gear ratio deeper.

The average is .06 difference in gear ratio for every inch of tire.
