So I would like to know what tires everyone is haveing luck with on dry and muddy conditions. Obviously your gears will have a lot to do with what tires work best for you so please put that as well. I'm needing to upgrade tires and am putting either 411 or 456 gears in a rear end at some point soon. First time building a rear end.

Stock gears for now. With 14" Titan tractor tires..
DOT tires, usually 235s, or 225s.
We're gonna start using grooved mobile home (14.5s) tires.

I currently use Tall trailer tires for my front tires that I think are close to mobile home tires your talking about. 235 is what i've used for years stuffed with a 225 and then tubed. last forever! I do like the look of the titan tractor tires for the rear though. look like they'd hook pretty well in mud

Does the direction of tread have anything to do with more grip in one direction than the other? Like this tire looks like you'd get better grip one way.

I run 9" with the 27" 8.5 X 15 skid steer, and a 456 gear.
As far as the tread direction, just mount one in each direction, you'll always have traction whether your in drive or reverse.

However, on just dirt, they suck. They started spinning.

Yes, they were originally only for the front, but they worked on the back when we found out the tires rule changed a week before the derby.. We of course didn't know until we got there, so we used bar luggers up front and the 14.5s on the back. If you read the 77+ Sedan Thread, you would've saw it.
