They all bend at the firewall. Hardnosing will make it shove back before nosing. But in the end, they all nose up.

I have a fresh never been derbied 74 impala 2-door. Will be going in a limited weld class, is it really worth the time and effort to crease the fenders, front and rear in this kind of derby? And is it worth leafing it instead of coil springs it has now? Will be running against other old iron cars but no imperials 73 and older. Your thoughts or experiences. Thanks

sounds like wheatland is going to allow alot of welding. deffinitely able to make a tough car for that show. Good pay out too.

Ya, I figured i would try my luck with making a tough car for that derby with the fresh impala. Plus it pays pretty good too if you can make the money. Should be a blast.

i have a 76 olds delta 88, planning on taking it to mayhems stock class. my question is about the front bumper, i cant change mounts or weld the shocks to the frame or hardnose it, but i can weld any bumper on i want to and reinforce between the shocks and seam weld the bumper. could i use the stock bumper or change it out for a harder or softer one?

other than plating what can i do at the firewall to make them last longer? I don't have a problem with them bending in front of the a-arm but its at the firewall that is frustrating me.

Quit using the front for a majority of your hits lol gm's are in my opinion for reverse only unless you want to take a nasty shot to a soft spot or axles and steering with the front. I have 4 washers that are 3/8 by 3 that span longer than the body mount holes at the firewall one goes in the frame and the other on the body down. Not sure if it helps but I ran a 75 and was going nose to nose with alot of people till the distributor cap came off from a hit but the bumper was at my water pump. And at the firewall the frame never moved just tipped in front of the a-arms hard!!! Maybe an idea to try if you can

does anyone have any tips on how to set up a trunk on a '75 Olds 98 for a stock class? Can wire in 4 spots, no welding, and cannot change body mounts. Should I notch or dimple and where?

This might be a dumb question but when you guys say the rear frame needs to be level, are you actually putting a level on the frame rails? Also when hardnosing a bop, do you get rid of the bumper mounts/shocks completely? Any help would be appreciated as this is my first old iron. Thanks!!

If the rules allow the bumper shocks and brackets on it while its hard nosed, I hard nose the bumper then weld the bumper shocks and brackets on.
