Bumpers: 4. Bumpers are interchangeable. Any Automotive bumper and bumper brackets may be used on any car. No homemade bumpers or brackets. You may trim bumper ends & fold them around. Bumpers and brackets may be welded solid. Bracket are interchangeable from car to car. You’ll be limited to a 12 inch bracket from end of frame. Brackets must stay factory length or can be shortened but you CAN’T stretch out brackets to make longer. Bumpers may be stuffed inside of Original bumper only. Bracket can be welded solid but can only be welded to 1 side of the frame, don’t wrap bracket unless it came out factory that way. NO Brackets may be stuffed inside of the frame rail. Front brackets on front only!!! Front Bumper can NOT be any higher than 30 inches from top center. Rear bumpers can NOT be lower than 16 Inches from top center of bumper. This helps cut down the issue of roll over and safety issues. 5. If you hard nose your bumper, you are only allowed a 4” wide ¼” thick flat plate for a bracket. You may wrap the end of frame completely around but only 4” back on frame. Nothing else can be used.

Oh man, I would have not called, used a shock and argue it at the show if they give you trouble.

I want to build to the rules so I don't have to load it and go home.

I learned a little while back from watching the veteran guys around here. Max out where you can on the rules and just be willing to work with the tech guys at the show and you will be surprised at how much more you can do to your car.

see where the 12 inch get you or just weld 12 of bracket to outside of frame if you want. need something to help the bend in the front rail. 12 inch may be getting close. see if you can get the shock in the inside of frame and come out on top of the frame in that 12 inch and let the rest just sit against the top of the frame and act as a gusset/kicker. Not welded to the frame but will bind if it wants to go up...

Well I am a veteran guy been running since 2005 just no chebbys. The derbies we run are pretty strict unless you are their buddies or car count is low.

Ive seen it go both ways around here as far as being strict but having a buddy in the tech line would be sweet 😎. I just build a car how I think it should be and do what I got too to pass tech and run

The only problem with derby is vaigue and poorly written rules, and bias or incompetent inspectors. Period. I know most people build how you want and cut what they want. That mentality is exactly what is wrong with our sport. Promoters who don't know how to write or enforce a decent set of rules. Anyone with a shred of integrity will always be underbuilt. And it's not a square deal. The cheat to compete mentally is the promoters fault. Screw the car count. Load that cheating sumbitch. JMO I build in the grey areas sometimes too. But if the promoters stood up then everyone would have to comply.

Imo build a car how you see fit within the rule set that you choose to run with. Be creative with your builds, don't be scared to push the limits within reason. Just my .02 cents though

I build as good as I can under a certain rule set but if the tech guys want me to change something Im cool and cooperative with them. Im with ya tho stromi if a guy comes in purposely trying to cheat or has a bad attitude about changing his setup to comply then yep LOAD that cheatin A$$ Clown 😎

Ok gentleman I have a question.
I'm getting a 77 Grand Prix. It has a bumper but I have the opportunity to buy a 74 Grand Prix bumper.
Both will be seam welded and flipped upside down and hard-nosed.
Which one is a better choice. The 77 or 74?

I dont think you need to flip either upside and I'm pretty sure they pretty similar except the 77 has two large vent holes in the center and the 4 does not. I've never ran one stock though. They are my favorite bumper to load.
