I'm new to this site, really like it. I'm not new to 4.3 engines. I've read a lot of comments that state that it's possible to run a sbc hei distributor on a 4.3. Yes it is possible but it will not run correctly, although you put a V6 cap on it, it will still send a spark 8 times rather than 6. I found this out the hard way. Also if you order a new hei distributor, make sure it's for an even-fire engine. The older 3.8 hei's will not work, those are semi-even-fire engines. Hope this helps someone.

Needing to know if anyone has ran into this problem.. I've got a friend who is planning on running mayhem with a 4.3 but is in need of a fuel pump pushrod. I'm not sure if his was a fuel injected or carbed motor to begin with, I just know he is in need of one and in need of one bad. Where would he find one? Would newer vortec motors have them? Thanks

Can you use a v8 distributor in a 2.8 as well and can you drill the holes in the intake for a carb as well thanks in advance

A new 4.3 stator from the local parts store for an 86 c10 pick up fixes the dist problem.

I've had decent luck with chinamaneese distributors. But the first thing you do is replace the ignition module. The ones that come with it are absolutely junk. JMO

so if i was wanting to build a 4.3 what is a good year they were made....or whats the best year to look for thanks if you plan on run it and be done.it don't matter...if you want the best performing,go with the vortec head 4.3 If you are building it,get the one with the lowest miles.preferably one a little old lady had in her caprice, and never went over 30mph.... There has been endless debate about used or new engines as a starting point for a build.it all depends on your wallet.

I have the chance to run a older 80's box style Sonoma with a 4.3 or a new 2000's style.I hear both trucks are weak, but what's the better vortec engine derby wise?
