1994 Ford Escort Gt Guy claims it will not shift gears once the engine gets warm. Any guesses why? Is this an auto or manual? My brother recently thought his trans was going out, it was slow to shift gears, and when it did, it would bang gears. It turned out that he had a severe exhaust leak(he knew he had one but didn't know where) at the flex connector. It was blowing the exhaust right at the valve body, and was heating the fluid and valve body to above normal operating temps, messing up the shift points. Just thought this could be a similar case...or maybe it's a bad ground?

Alright, guys, I have a 98 Mercury Tracer that won't start. I've never done a fuel injected, front wheel drive, or a car newer than an 85 Chevette, so I have ZERO clue what I'm doing. I drove it into the garage today, turned it off, stripped out interior, exterior trims, and lights. Then I started the car and started removing wires one by one like everyone is telling me to do. Starting with the rear of the car, I unbolted these two modules from either fender and then I unplugged all the speakers and everything. I was done for the day due to the ass coldness I'm experiencing so I shut the car off. Few minutes later I tried to start it back up and it just turns over. I have fuel, I have spark, and I have air. What's the problem?
Any input helps, as, like I said, I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing. Thanks.

Sounds like the inertia switch for the fuel or u may have a ground somewhere unhook.

It was grounds. But yeah, wfo53, I'm figuring that one out. I know a guy that runs fwd fords and said all I need was the grounds and the gauge cluster. But now it won't fire again, after getting rid of all the accessories. There's this high pitched beep though. security maybe?

The beep is probably due to a security issue. I just stripped mine out the other day and i got the beeping noice after removing the air bags.on the drivers side near the bottom is a fuse box i unplugged one of the plugs and it stopped and the car runs fine

Picked up a 98 wagon, with the 2.0. Usually I just strip it and go, but in this one I would like to relocate the wires that run from the fuse box, along the drivers side fender, into the cab. But I don't see a plug, and the hole isn't big enough to put the whole fuse box through. How do I go about doing that ?

What's best way to set the trunk up. Also do u think that a 74 monte bumper would be to much for this car.

In hind sight, on our 94, I would have notched, or at least put hard dimples about a foot from the back. We tried to pre bend it without notching or dimpling. It bent too far forward. It went sky high in about 4 hits. In my opinion, the 74 Monte is a bit much for it. I'd be looking for an 80's GM or Ford full size bumper.
