I ran a flat bumper and it killed the front in 3-4 hard hits, no air space between bumper and engine, it was toast! Granted, that was no bumper shocks at all, just hard nosed. Run as long of bumper shocks as you can, I would try a more pointed bumper next time if I were to run one again...My figure 8 escort, I welded the hatch all the way around and didn't notch and didn't run a bumper. It's all packed in under the hatch, but the hatch is still straight...

On my zx2 it has no return fuel line but I had my tank with a w body pump in it and the car ran fine with it wired straight to the battery. I did not leave it run to long now would it like flood itself out if I ran it that way in a derby.

No, the only way it would flood out is if the solenoids in the injectors failed open, with almost never happens. If anything (depending on the pump design) it would burn up the pump from over pressurizing. When you turn the pump on does it sound like it's working really hard after it builds pressure? Or does it just shut off? Or does it start making a hissing kind of noise? Shutting off or hissing is good, sounding like it's bogged REALLY bad is not good.

I will listen to the pump closer. What would be the best way to set up the trunk.

I usually weld it all up, jack up the spare tire well, notch the frame about half way back, peen the body...

I got my rear end pointed up at about a 10 degree angle from straight...the sides are all smashed in and the deck lid/trunk are in the shape of a U. But we can't weld so do you guys think this will be okay to make it either pack in straight or go up? I would screw with the frame but it's torn up from trailer racing now...

The 1st gen late 80s-90 ones are much different, though...

That's so good to read actually!!! I plan on not using the front end AT ALL so that's good to know that the backs pack straight in. Thank you
