Its still not the proper way to secure a vehicle to a trailer. It should be attached independently at four corners so you are not putting all your faith in one attachment point.

When it comes to the safety of your car and anyone behind you, you make damn sure the car has no chance of coming off. Never skimp on safety

There's really no such thing as an oversecured load.

There's really no such thing as an oversecured load. To each their own though, ill spend an extra 100 bucks on ratchet straps to protect a couple thousand dollar investment.

I don't secure my car properly because I'm worried about my car. I do it because I'm worried about killing an innocent person if it comes off my trailer.

Hey guys. Going to be running a 76-77 thunderbird with a 351m. Pretty much stock rules with few mod applications allowed. I have the I beam bumper mounts. I plan to compress them. From what I have read sounds like it will be a good idea to, along with my rules, weld bumper to I beam mounts, I can then weld the I beam to the square tube it fits inside, then weld that to the frame both front and back. From what I have gathered I should notch it about a foot from the bumper. Drive more with the front than the back and seam weld where I can. Kinda looking for any yay or nays. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Here's my dad's '79 Cougar that was ran last weekend. Got 5th in a GSA modified class. Stock body bolts, stock rear end, Chevy brackets and shocks on the front, and simple tuck/notch on the trunk. It twisted at the boxes and split the front bumper, pretty happy with it other than that.

Hello, I recently ran a 77 thunderbird with a 351M stock engine. I welded the mounts (I beam) to the outside of the frame. My mistake, the front bent up right behind the mounts and at the opening in the frame on the inside. Thinking I should have put the mounts on the inside to plate the opening. It is still good to run again, I was wondering if anyone has seen what happens when it does go up. Will it stop and pull the rest of the frme up or will it fold back into the radiator? Thank you.

All the ones I ever ran, keep going straight up, back into the radiator before it bends at the fire wall. Accept this one that I welded the brackets on the inside of the frame. Cut the frame off square & hard nosed the bumper. Worked great! Attachments:

Wasn't allowed to hardness by the rules. Got as close as I could to it though. Looks like this one will go into the radiator then. Next time I will try the inside.
