What if you had a DP in the front? the poor man's solution is the A/C compressor

Plenty of mounting holes up front to choose from. Just consider the direction that the impact forces you are designing against are working from and design your device to be strongest in those same directions.

Ok, I have read through this thread but still need some help on some parts selection. I have not been able to get my online cam selectors to work. So, I need a little help. I have a 1967 383. It will be put in a doba with 3:42 gears and 700-15 rear tires. I plan to go with a dual plane high rise intake and an edelbrock 650, double roller timing chain or gear drive, still havent decided that on yet either (thoughts there)?. I am also looking for help with a cam choice. I want something to give it a little improvement without having to run a stall convertor or swap out valve springs. Any thoughts?

3.42 gears is pretty mild and with stock converter you will not want to go radical with the cam. 67 383 has decent compression so you do have some room to work. I would suggest staying with cams in the range of 268° advertised duration.... personally for derby engines I like the Comp 268H in a 383

What do you guys recomend for bb intakes? Single plane aluminum? And do you prefer to use roller cam/valve train or keep the standard hydrolic in there?

hydrualics works just fine. also a dual plane intake works good in a demo derby also.

in my big block 383's & 400's I use hydraulic flat tappet cams and stock cast iron 4 bbl intakes. All that other stuff you mentioned is better suited to chevy engines

clean up all the sludge in the oil passages, pick up tube, etc. Clean all the casting sand out of the cooling cavities.

What gear are yall running with your big blocks? 4.88 and 4.56 have both got the job done for me but thinking about going a little higher... maybe 3.90?
