I pulled the trans out of a 96 Dodge van and curious if there is any electronics that need to be attached or can it be ran to another magnum without any issues? The case reads 064-2. Not quiet sure on the serial number. 96 should have the round black connector instead of the 3 pin yellow or black? the round (I think seven pin but not sure off the top of my head) needs to have the governor solenoid energized or governor pressure blocked somehow or it will start in 3rd gear.

Even if you manually start it in park? So if the plug is gone how would one go about adjusting or bypassing that relay?

With a 904 trans does a lock up and a Non lock up torque converter fit into this transmission or do they have different tooth count?

If I wanted to run one that bad I would probably pull the pan drop the governor solenoid and make a solid aluminum plate to block it. Not 100% sure it will work but I don't like to run any extra wiring underneath if I don't have to. The way to hotwire would need the connector and run power and ground to the governor solenoid.

Anyone know if a 904 lockup and a non lock up torque converter have the same tooth count and input hole?

Need help
727 ran very strong last time it was used 2 yrs ago. Now it had a LONG delay when I shift it into reverse 6-7 seconds Reving doesn't make it happen faster. When it finally does shift it shifts hard and pulls hard it just takes a while. Forward gears grab instantly.
Band adjustment issue? Valve body issue?
Any ideas?

Honestly, the only trouble I've had with a reverse engagement delay was low on fluid. It doesn't seem like it takes much (less than a quart) to have trouble.

Figured out my transmission issue... as a reverse lockout I just put the trans reverse and weld a bolt on the top side of the gear selector arm so that it hits the side of the transmission case and cant move any further back I then use a cane shifter. I must have had the selector just past reverse and slightly into park when i tacked the bolt in place. as soon as i tap the shifter slightly forward its shifts hard and fast.

Short shaft big block 727 late 60s tranny yoke. Does it unbolt from end of tranny? Anyone make adapter plate to bolt to yoke so slider drive shaft can be used (do I make or machine my own?)?

Do Magnums make too much power for stock 904s? I made one shot with the nose of my 2000 Mercury to a guys wide open rear tire, put it in reverse, made it a couple feet, back in drive, nothing. Spit the driveshaft thinking ok a u joint broke. Looking tonight (derby was last night) I noticed my bellhousing is broken damn near all the way around. Are the cases weak? Did I have my engine and transmission mounted too rigid? Engine is welded in solid, and I used a U bolt on the tailshaft housing on the factory ford crossmember, which was bolted in place. To my knowledge I cannot build a transmission brace for the limited weld class I run, so I’m assuming the mounts were far too rigid or the engine makes just enough to cross the line for a stock non lockup 904? It starts frustrating, as I put this engine into a boattail, ran it once no issues engine/trans related (battery box broke, letting the batt roll around on the floor), put the same combo into this mercury, got hung up on someone else, out way to early for more than a scratch, then a year later (last night) run the car a second time and this happens. The rear end used was also a jigged 8.75 with 4.11 gears if that matters.

Just had a SB727 fully rebuilt the first of july with heavy duty internals. I ran a derby the end of july, the first day it ran great, the second day after getting hot wouldn't go into reverse. The next day just for fun I added a quart of fluid and it backed right off of the trailer. I thought well it just was low on fluid. I ran it again a couple weeks ago and made damn sure the motor and trans were warmed up before topping off fluids. It was doing fine until it got hot, then no reverse. After being drug out of the derby I let it sit for a couple hours until the derby was over and went to load it onto my trailer. Reverse worked fine but wouldn't move if I put it in first gear but would move fine in drive. Any suggestions on this issue?

I highly doubt it, my lines are made from hydrolic hose but I will double check
