Gettin a e/t out of a 74 3/4 ton gmc truck and was wondering what kinda tranny it would have and if good for derby use ? I don't think it's a yoke , it's bolted on couplings for the driveshaft , that be bad ?

There is a slim chance it has 6 clutch drums instead of 5. But who knows how many times its been rebuilt or changed

Would a 350 or 400 flex plate fit and work properly on a 700-R4 Transmission?

I'm running my first car with a motor/tranny swap and I'm looking for suggestions on keeping the tranny cool. Rules don't allow a cooler of any sort. Besides just coiling the lines, any ideas?

Does anyone know if there is a drain plug on a 700r4 transmission? There's none on the pan itself. Is there any on the sides? Looks like on the passenger side there's a bolt head sticking out. I don't know if it's a drain plug or not. I doubt it's a drain plug. I'll probably just make up a pan with a drain plug in it.

any idea on what kind of tranny cooler i should run on a fresh rebuilt turbo 400? i was told from a very good tranny guy that if you run 1/2 hour or less ice in a cooler would be fine. anything longer you should run a cooler with a fan.

If you can't shoot it, derby it, sleep with it or eat it, you don't need it

I was wondering if it matters if i use a 3/8 course thread tap to tap my tranny for a slider instead of the fine thread?

I would think so. I used 3/8" - 16 NC on a TH 350 years ago. I would recommend using blue Loctite.
