Just picked up a 76 coupe Deville. I just got into the sport last year any advice on building this one? Only built one car last year so I’m not very knowledgeable about it yet . Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Building to stock class rules in Utah.

Do you have a link to the rules? Caddys are kinda pain to learn on, but it's not impossible. You need to tuck the trunk and notch the rear frame. Also the biggest weak link stock is the factory front bumper and brackets. Ditch them and hardnose a decent bumper on and if you can put a 10" homemade bumper bracket on, these things are mean on the front. Putting a SBC in is a pain the first time. Also no rear end is a direct swap.

A Lot of grey areas in them rules...
Your "pre-ran" could be pretty tough to them rules...

^I agree. Let me have a pre ran 5/6 even if I use a factory BOP front bracket, 1 patch plate behind it and the other plate behind the A arm, it would be mean.
As I said Caddys are a pain to learn on, and I dont recommend running them if they are just a one off car for you, but if you have a handful to run, those are good rules for these cars.

RUNNING A POINTY ON AN ONLY SEAM WELDED FRAME IS GUARANTEED TO NOSE IT UP QUICKLY...... RUN A 74 IMPALA HARD NOSED TO THE FRAME, THAT WILL SLOW IT DOWN A BIT.... IVE BUILT 7 CADDIES, ALL 75 AND 76, BUT WHAT DO I KNOW KNOW.... WEVE RUN 74 IMPALA FRONTS, POINTIES, 75 MONTE FRONTS AND STOCK CADDY BUMPERS CUT DOWN.....DITCH THE HIGH BRACKETS FOR SURE AND WITHOUT WELDING THE Y"S CLOSED, YOU HAD BETTER RETHINK YOUR BUMPER CHOICE..... Thats what Ive worried about but I dont have any other options besides the 6x6.... Our heats are only about 5 mins long and its one of those shows where if your car will run past 3 mins youre almost guaranteed to make it to the main. Then you get a 6x6x1/8 plate to repair after every run If you can cap the end of the tube I would put a tube inside of the tube and it won't bend. Then skin it if allowed but I always prefer flat bumpers too.

Quick question, are eldorado frame horns the same as a coupe or the rest of the “traditional” caddies?

I have built 2 75 caddies for bolt and chain shows and both of them I have cut a hole about 6” behind the bumper to run my all thread through the frame. Both have bent at that same spot, even after I played it with 1/4 plate. I have restubbed the second one to run a limited wed show. Will re running a 15” bumper bracket and a pointy. My question is how are you guys running ur althread? Thought about just welding it to the side of the plate? Also trying to get my bumper height up am thinking about Vic spindles and 70s Ford a arms. Wondering if anyone else has done this and how it turned out?
