pcba13, thanks
junknys187. then get the back end at 15 inches. Unless you have broken leafs or a completely rotten car, it won't go down. How many shackles do they allow, welding leafs? What about duct tape?

You can chain the humps, add the extra body mount in the top center of the humps, beat the humps in a bit, or do all three. I don't personally do the last one, unless of course the frame is flakey with rust.

Have you ever heard of tiliting the front end of a wagon? I am only 16 and trying to start playing with the big boys, any tips or tricks to help me out would be great!

Ive you have a wagon i would save it til you have several shows under your belt that way you get a feel for things more and watch your compation how they drive and build and slowly take your time on the wagon to make sure all you t's are crossed and i's are dotted. get a good drive train and get good at welding and good definsive driving is key

That, and being that it's your first derby, the older guys are gonna want to put you in your place since it's your first time. Also, running a wagon, there are going to be a lot of guys who will team up on you to get rid of you since you've got a wagon, especially if you're not well-known for derbying in the area yet.

Chain that sucker down tight.. I like to wrap the chain all the way around the hump..suck it tight with all thread..then go down around the axle...And all thread it tight again.. If allowed cut the main leaf ...shorten it ...clamp it in between the remaing leafs and bolt it up inside the frame..aka SHORTLEAF it.. good luck..

Im building a 75 chevy wagon for a derby that allows all thread to replace the shocks in the rear, but the leafs must be stock configuration. Is chaining the humps still necessary for this build? Also, the spare tire well, cut it out or leave it? If cut, how much should be cut out? Finally, the tail-gate, we are allowed 5"x3" patches. I figure drop it till 5" of it is left up and weld them on. Any suggestions?

I would still chain the humps if allowed...spare tire well, why cut it out? That's not the stronger side, tailgate, for Chevys get some angle it fits nicely from tailgate into tail light opening
