Ran 3 luminas now 13 times total between the 3, never had problem with driver side of ass end goin to hell, only had one front frame rail bend, and never bellied one out in ass. Also flattened my 76monte Carlo on the one that I bent frame on. To me these are the best and easiest car to build Yeah but you dont run any good shows. Most of your shows have 5 cars or less.

So, 99-04 oldsmobile alero's are W-bodies?? Looks like a lumina but a greater bend in the front k-frame.

My bad just looked it up. Alero's are built with the n-body platfrom. (cavalier's are built with the j-body platfrom) I still think when building my alero's. If I stick to a lumina build, they are going to be tuff. Guess we will see what the alero's are made of. LOL

I have a 2000 and a 2001. Both have the 3.4L. I've junked alot of the 2.4L alero's, grand am's and cavalier's. They are all JUNK!! So, I'm going to see what the 3.4L motor's are. I've ran the 96-01 lumina's and they have 3.1L's motor. Did very well with them. If I remember right the 3.1L is the same motor as the 3.4L. we will see My bad just looked it up. i think id either trade the aleros in on some luminas or pull the subs and put a lumina sub in them. Ive looked these cars over at the local junkyard and they dont look very impressive for how big the bodies are.

I've seen alot of them at the junkyards too. But I think with a bumper and some building they do ok. I'm not going to cry over $250 a piece. But, they will work untell I can get my hands on a lumina. I've ran a lumina the last two years. That's why I picked those alero's up to try.

OK have read all 9 pages but no talk of how to keep the sub from kinking @ the bend??? Also have to try the relocating rear bumper trick have double notched tucked and pre bent n its still dropping also we have had issues with the rear of the sub dropping out from under the car but think we have that issue nipped in the butt For August, I'm going to try chaining the sub at the arch to the unibody rail & see what happens....same concept as chaining humps on a leaf car.

Tuck the trunk and move the rear bumper bar up five inches, by removing it and putting the bottom bolts in the top holes and drilling four new holes for the top bolts. This method works on all compacts because it puts all the pressure on the top of the frame, thus causing it to go up and in instead of down like they are designed. Notching or pre bending is not necessary if the bumper is relocated properly. also it works great with stock rules. you have any pics? im not fully understanding how your doing this? i probably would have a better understanding if i had the car stripped but for the next month or 2 i plan to drive it..... He can not put his bumper back on because it rusted off js

notch wedge and prebend the rear of a lumina. rolls tight and stays tough. my rules allow midsize bumpers only. i hardnose with a 80 seville bumper or a lincoln versales bumper. both hard to find. tires i run 205/75/15s and havent had a problem. i ran mine 4 times and every derby had 15 plus cars. 3 of them were almost all luminas. never lost axels or steering did break both rear control arms though. just welded them back together and went again. only had a radiator the first derby. it got scorching hot but always fired back up. last run i ran with 5 cylinders and lost a second about 3/4 of the way through. still pulled off 3rd. mine was a 91 euro with a 3.1 in it with 95000 actual miles. funnest car i ever ran.
