I cant believe that didn't snap either thats pretty impressive. We've had these fords bend weird but honestly haven't ever had one kink there like that so kinda curious as to what might have caused it to bend there like that Yeah that ball joint held on for dear life LOL. As to what kinked it I got hit at a angle full track and it puckered it. It must happen pretty frequently because when I inspect derby cars they seem to plated right there where the crush box meets the front frame rail. They call it taco plating. Ya I've heard of alot of guys starting to do that but I'm not sure if its because alot of them have had them bend like that or if its just one of those well so and so plated it like that and won and now its grown into everyone's starting to do it lol. My biggest thing with these darn fords is one side infront of the aarms always seems to bend weird as hell no matter what I do lol

I know this is probably the wrong place to post but does anyone know of a vendor who has shifters in stock? I'm needing one for a derby in two weeks and so far everyone I've contacted is out and haven't got a time-line on when they'll get some made. Needing one for a 727 btw

I've never had a problem with a steering box on these fords and I don't run power steering. Biggest thing make sure box is full of fluid then loop the lines. Haven't broken one yet

We prefer 80s model fords or lincoln's. We just have better luck with them over newer styles and from our experience they've held up better. But thats just from our experience. If its your first ever car go with what you feel more comfortable with building and go have fun. Then take what you learned from that build and build another with what you learned works and don't do what didn't work and try something else.

When I did mine I did lowers first and then the top. I honestly didn't have a huge problem doing it that way it seemed to work alright. But I also like leafing them better. Way faster and way easier lol

Anyone here ever build a SBM and leave out the oil rings? ive got a guy thats local to me, says he's built a number of small block mopars and left out the oil wiper rings. I think its a ridiculous idea, he says his motors only smoke a little at high rpm. i think he's full of Crap but you never know. What do you guys think BS or not? I'd almost have to see it to believe it. That's the first I've heard of anyone doing that

85 wagon should i leaf it or leave coil springs rules say no flat sprung cars but i a use coil spring i can have 16 inch hump plates Imo id leaf it. Main thing on the wagon is make sure the body stays on the frame. So since you can't flat leaf the ass of the car won't be as low so that'll kinda help with that if your rules are more stockish. I went against my better judgment last year and ran one coiled with hump plates and not a huge fan of how it turned out. But thats just my opinion
