Got a 96 Lincoln town car, wanting to swap a arms on it. I have 70s ford a arms, but when I measured it all out it was evident it wasn’t gonna fit. How are you guys mounting these an arms? Or is there something else I should find? Have to do some fab work. I've seen guys cut mounts off the 70s frame and weld to the newsstyle or mod the newstyle so they'll work. Just w.e is easier and your more comfortable with. Also 80s aarms work fine aswell on those cars I believe they'll bolt right on

Well for that specific question you take c channel weld to the side of the frame on the inside where your front 4 link lower would be then for the rear of the leaf you wanna move it inline with the rail so then you plate 8 inches minimum both sides of rail and run a bolt through the frame and make hangers hanging down to bolt through the eye of the leaf. That's the short version of it Only slight mod I'd have to this would be instead of inside the frame run the leafs straight down the frame instead of one side or the other. Haven't messed with alot of gms so not sure if you can do that with these or not. Only gm we've built thats how we done it and rearend was hard and we didn't run hump plates. The next thing is making sure the rearend your using will work if converting it to leafs instead of coils because for leafs it could be to narrow and cause some issues.

No cradle bone stock show I think someone makes mopar to ford motor mounts. Might be Mike's derby shop. I know guys who have taken chevy c cup mounts and bolted them to mopar mounts and then set everything down in and welded the c cups to the engine cross member before for stock shows

Thanks for the input guys. Just running ideas through my head. Never built one but I really really want to. Just debating if they are still a good build. Todays cars are front end cars. These old beasts are best driven backwards, just not sure if they are up to todays builds. Fronts of these are great if put together right, every car bends but still a great front end car, especially with a fix it plate. Fix it plate or just plates in general and bumper mounting seems like it helps with these from what I've seen. Definitely a car I'd build if you could

That's usually how I am. If I'm left alone and stare at one long enough my brain starts calculating and figuring like hmm if I change this to this or swap this with that it'll do this. Recently while working on my 74 tbird I'm looking at the front end and my brain just decides I wonder if any at all would the benefit be if you cut the horns right before the downward bend and flip them so they're actually up and would be more of a levelish line. Needless to say I didn't do it but definitely pondered it I have pictures of a 70s ford straightened somewhere with the bend taken out. If you could find them I'd be interested to see what that looks like

We were running a DP in that car at the time. Wanted a beefier crossmember for the motor. Plus it’s wider, took up a lot of space inside the frame rails when we burnt it in. If you can imagine the factory how that small tube for the engine cross member is tied in, imagine a Vic crossmember or something even stronger would be like. It would be hard to do it these days and get it in with a promoter knowing how it’s supposed to look. Makes sense. Was just curious what brought ya to the idea of trying it haha

Thank you, I’ve got a couple more rivys found. Hopefully I can get them bought. We have had 2 t-birds, and ran only one of them. Cut the cross member out and put an 80s Vic crossmember in backwards for the rear steer and lower Aarms. Worked well. A lot of work though Unfortunately I don’t have any pics of it. Just curious but what made ya swap it with an 80s vic?

So Ive looked through a few threads. Seen guys talk about Vic stub swaps. Anyone ever full frame swap on 02 up Vic frame? Stupid idea? Can it work? I don't know much about these but I'd say a frame swap probably isn't going to work very well. Probably have to do alot of fabrication and not even sure body would line up at all with the frame to work. That's why I think mostly they just restub the front ends. I could be totally wrong but just from the little bit I've seen of these builds don't think you can just set the body on a newstyle frame and bolt it up with little modification

Threaded rod through the rearend/package tray is pretty great if allowed. If not, trailer ramp on the back of the car and drive on it with a truck. I've never thought of using a ramp. Have to try that sometime haha

I'm also thinking that it'll bend like crazy and ontop of that getting hit just right and taking a shot off that angle probably wouldn't be the greatest thing compared to tubing
