What do you guys do to get motivated?
I used to live to demo, but this year it just doesn't turn my crank anymore.
Last year I ran six shows. I have a shop full of nice parts, a lot of clean rides, but 0 drive to demo this year.
Not really sure what changed in life to make this happen aside from I got into promoting. But that ventures been going well for me. I will admit though putting on quality shows is very mentally draining and time consuming.
My question to you all is, how do you get out of the funk, and get motivated to get into the shop?

Take all those nice parts and set them aside, run a car you litterly do not car if you blow the motor up in, break a rear end etc. bring it back to being fun. It’s easy to get burnt out when it starts to feel like a job, we all need bring it back to what it was always meant to be fun and one last ride every once in a while.

Exact reason why I went back to windshield/bone freaking stock compacts. Easy builds and no bull$hit of competing how has the most money and bolt on's. Suppose to be fun this is not or will NEVER be Nascar.

I sold my setup, and started running gut n go/street stock full size. Haven't had that much fun in years. Less drama as well.

I have been running compacts lately because of all the reasons mentioned.

I wish I could tell you how. I've built two cars in the last 10 years. Like you, I have several nice setups with literally tons of old iron to put them in, but I completely lose all motivation somewhere in the stripping process and back out to the weeds they go.... I have 2 completely stripped ready to build wagons, a couple Buicks, 3 other half stripped cars and I can't tell you how many untouched. The crap keeps coming in, I absolutely don't want to sell, but my motivation is non-existent...... It's like I love the idea of still derbying, I want to still derby, but I just don't want to actually do it anymore.... I honestly think this is how an old addict feels....

Take time away, spend time with your family, look at other hobbies. Usually enough time away and seeing a good show will get the gears turning again. Any competitive sport, people get burnt out by the end of the season, but they also take a complete break for half a year before they have to return too it.

I took 2 years off. Butstayed up to date on the times because even 6months off at the way this sport is progressing feels like your starting from scratch.. keep that in mind. Its a rush you'll never be able to replace but its also an extremely expensive and stressful sport. Its an extreme love/hate deal.

I quit for 7 years. Always kept some parts. Eventually bought back in, built a nice rear, nice engine, etc. Built one car, ran 2 shows with it and sold out. Shoulda stayed out. Definitely not the same as it was. I don’t care enough to cheat good enough but I’m too competitive to get smoked by the cheaters. Not to mention the cost and amount of time

Definitely agree with all the replies!
I pulled a car in and started building it for a stock show, at a fair a few hours away from home where I never have ran before. Maybe this will get it back going!

I'm not sure if you want to call where I'm at burnt out or not, I ran a show Father's Day 2019 and again last Thursday. it's not so much I don't want to build but more just don't make it as much of a priority anymore. I still have 8-10 cars all my motors/trans/axles. but with work, kid, keeping up on house stuff, (one year going through divorce, keeping up on making my drivers going, and most of all little to no help. It kind of keeps a guy from doing it anymore and even remotely being competitive. stock classes are not stock, they are the modified classes we used to run. now the outlaw classes we used to run are now "modified" class. when I walked away from here 11 years ago boy did shit change. it's no longer a poor guy's hobby in any class, the fun has packed its shit and left.

I build a car over the winter as my hobby and take my sweet ass time . I don’t stress myself over it and it gets done when it gets done . Then I plan where I’m going and make a vacation out of it

The cheating at big money shows is as bad as the teaming and sandbagging. I have too much integrity, and mostly not enough time, money, sponsors, or friends to even attempt to compete anymore at big money shows. I switched back to local compacts. Cheap easy fun. And nobody is plating their frames or have protectors to protect their protectors.
