I'm going to be building a car to lunatic promotions as class rules. Short description of the rules no imps, no 03+, 12 inches of plate from bumper back, any rear end, weld a arms down, lower cradle only no dp, homemade crossmember, 5 on 5 off welds on doors and trunk, add 4 body mounts, 4 allthread in trunk to frame, slider, body mounts can be changed, no hump plates but can beat humps in. With those rules what would be the best car out of the options above and comment why. If you feel there is a better car that isn't in the pole please comment. Thanks everyone for their thoughts!

I’d choose a 74-5 tow package Buick or olds.

74-6 impala was made for those rules ya it would be a solid option, just don't have one though.

I guess it depends on your driving, if you like using the rear, Id pick a TP Buick Or Olds. If you like front then the 75-76 Caddy.

There are alot of variables that are likely answered in the rest of the rules. And even then it matters most what the inspections are like. Im guessing a roundback would be the best choice but can't really say that without knowing all the variables. Im going with, if you have these cars, and are asking which one to run, run whatever you are most familiar with and are comfortable building. 12 inches of plate makes many cars equal.

And who voted the 78 Lincoln, I'm not being an a-hole just curious to reasoning. I have one but I was saving it for many years down the road, I've been too scared to build it because I haven't seen very many that were actually built run.

The lincoln can be a great car if built by a guy familiar with building older Fords. And the rules permit the nescessary mods. Again, 12 inches of plate make many different cars equal.

Kinda sounded like it. Apparently you have never been on the receiving end of a trackshot from a 78 Lincoln with 12 inches of plate. Their biggest weakness is the first foot. If that's fixed....

Not intentionally, just curious. I didn't say it was a dumb idea, just said I didn't understand the choice. I've never really seen any of the old iron Fords that are actually built, just some ran by people that knocked the glass out and went. So I am curious to thought behind one, because I can buy 5 FoMoCos to every 1 GM I find.

Depends on rules and inspectors. I built one that was decent. Ive seen others that were just plain mean.

A couple of important rules that I left out was that gtp can be tight against package trey, and can cut frame off flush to core support body mount, going to hardnose bumper. As far as what I'm comfortable with I'm open to building any of these.

Post the rules if you want an accurate opinion. And how strict are the inspections? Any car can be good with blind inspectors.

Inspectors are pretty good but willing to work with you. Facebook isn't letting me copy the rules for whatever reason
