Pretty sure caddys angle up like vice from factory Old iron Caddies wil go down 9.5 times out of 10 if not built correctly. Stronger is NOT better in the rear. They can fairly predictable if done correctly though, just remember to hit square or you WILL have trouble! Speaking from experience!

That was a joke on his part, someone please correct me if I'm wrong but don't you want to do it directly behind the firewall? that may have been a joke but I know of a metric caddy that was tilted in the rear humps but the opposite direction... we all know metric caddys like to become a track grader because the rear rails will go down quickly.. this guy tilted this one up a lil in the rear humps to give the rear rails a very slight upwards angle like the new style fords... The rule set he was building to allowed hump plates so it made it easier to do this.. it was cut right behind the package tray and pulled up just a hair then seam welded back together and hump plated Everything I say is taken as a joke so I dont say much anymore...

If so many people have tilted old iron why isn't there any pictures? When I hear "if built correctly" why not explain in detail what exactly that is so everyone knows?

Nick Oh boy is that going to cause a shitstorm, mostly because people have put there time and money into a car, and don't feel they need to spoon feed others, to be honest you just have to look at the geometry of a frame and decide if you want to cold bend or cut a pie slide and re weld.

I'm not personally tilting any gm. I could figure it out, but I don't get why it's such a secret.

It's not a secret... Some of us just get tired of guys coming on here asking the same questions. They basically want us to tell them step by step how to build a car. If you don't do it yourself (trial and error) you will never learn. When it comes to old iron Caddies especially, those of us who have spent the years trying new things and sometime failing know how to do them. I will help guys out, but I will NOT put specific details in an open forum concerning a Cadillac. If it hurts some peoples feelings that's just tough. If anyone has a SPECIFIC question they can PM me and I will know immediately if they have done their homework on them or not. A Cadillac build is one of the MOST finicky vehicles to put together. If you do your homework and do it correctly you will be hooked on them for life and you will understand where we are coming from. If you don't, and you build it wrong you will be in for a LONG night! If you have a specific question feel free to ask me, just do it privately and I will try to help you.

I dont feel that tilting was a good idea, and I lost any respect I had for these style cars, Ill now be selling my Malibu cuz of what I seen today

The only gm that benefits from tilting is the metrics. And that's only so they don't nose in front of the engine. Pushes in but nice if done right. The rest are waste of time. Don't get rid that Malibu just mount your front bumper creatively. Back ends of caddies have a lot of metal. I bet if you cut off the truck of an old iron caddy it weigh as much as an metric. Lol. Only way to get them to go where you want them is to get rid of it. Or what I'm trying to push is leaf overs. That turns the back end of those cars into monsters. All that metal built properly leaves a car with a lot life in back.

We have a tilted 70s GM, it pushed back really hard, still turns but when cranked they rub, no DP though because most places don't allow it around us, I guess the only way I would do it again would be if I could have a DP touching a dash bar.
