yep... i thought he had hit me so i pulled the flag, turned out his car died right before and he only rolled into me so they didnt count it as a hit, I got out of the car and the officials told me his didnt count and he only had 4 seconds on the clock yet... coulda at least took home 50 bucks, even tho my car was way beyond any repair, including a locked up water pump.... o well, live and learn he was in the black 80s gm... it ended about 30 seconds after this, I had it won... o well, at least i lost it to a buddy

Seen someone have their bacon saved because he wrapped duct tape around his distributor cap and when it got hit and broken it stayed firing long enough to finish the heat out. On a personal note I have been saved by a back up hand throttle and knocked out because I didn't solder my wires together/used too thin of wiring.

Take enough gas and tranny fluid. A drop of super glue on plug wires. Make sure they are away from headers. Never fails right. And always seems like vacume lines to brake booster always falls off in a hard hitting show

1.) tighten lugs after ea. heat 2.) install your seat as low as possible...keeps your head from hitting the roof.. 3.) put a hose clamp on your head rest post...to keep it from sliding back down...got to have a good head rest.. 4.) I use a strap behind my seat tied forward to the dash bar area.... Gives me something to hold onto other than the wheel 5.) have a stop on your shifter so you don't have to fish for rev...keeps my focus on the arena.. 6.) power steering and power brakes..be comfortable while you drive 7.) ck all your fluids after ea. heat

Dont jack around back in the pits. Always check everything over and over again. Put people to work swinging sledge or changing tires so you can focus on the drivetrain. People love to help but might not ask to. Teamwork. Plenty of time to socialize when they're all coming down to see your trophy. Oh, have fun. Always have fun.

In the pits don't go all crazy beware of what people are doing. Like if the car is jacked up and a guy is putting on a new wheel don't let some other guy come up and start beating on the car with a sledge hammer. Just use common sense. The only people that should be around the car is the people working on it.

Do some research on the promoters. Do they tech or not?

My Pre derby ritual is always putting the batteries on the charger, checking the wiring and making sure the battery cables/ clamps are tight, checking the oil and trans fluid and walking around the car to see if i missed anything
