Run batteries that allow you to hook up both top and side mount cables. If you break one, you wont be sitting there trying to hold it on.

duct tape steering wheel so you dont get your hands caught up in the wheel. Always! Happens all the time and its ugly what hands and fingers look like .

set your idle high enough the car will drive without the throttle. this year i got down to me and 2 other cars. one of my chains holding the engine down tore off the frame and the engine shifted leaving me with no throttle. luckily my idle was high enough to still drive around and take the win. Hand throttle back up.

Spare axels is always a must and make sure you have your helmet straped on tight, had a buddy take the first hit and his helmet came flying off.

I didn't tighten my helmet all the way up once while riding passenger, made a head on full track hit and my head hit the top of the car, got a concussion, cracked helmet. And jammed neck.....

When using the factory seat belt i always run a bolt through the belt and tape it up so it doesnt lock me to my seat and i still have enough room to move.

I only run a lap belt I take the adjustable center belt from back and bolt in place of retractable style.
Also always make sure not to burn seatbelt when welding cage in lol

When welding or torching on a car have a fire extinguisher close by. I like haveing a water one close by can use it to put out fires as well as cooling off hot metal when cutting.
Also if you run an electric fuel pump make sure your wires are secure. Had this cost me a heat win once. Was running a 4070carter pump that the wires slide onto the pump took a hit and car quit and wouldn't start. Thought I was gona take a big hit and so I pulled my flag, turns out the guy that was lined up to hit me had 2 broke axles and the other car that was left wouldn't start either. Lesson learned don't be too fast to pull your flag.

Never break your stick until they MAKE you if it is down to a handfull of cars. That can mean the difference between bringing home a little cash or just a trashed car. I have done before and gotten fourth in a heat. Didn't realize I made the hit, and it cost me second because I wasnt thinking.

Hand throttle back up. that is a good idea too but the year before would not have done any good for me cause i got the linkage bent against the carb and wouldnt move.
