Brad penn 15/40 at first since then went to 20/50. Seems to run a lot cooler on the heavier oil when in out of water.

Our oil distributor told us Pennzoil and Quaker State come out of the same tanks and are the same oil with different jugs. So if you think Pennzoil is better then Quaker State, their the same thing. There will never be either in my engines. I run Mobil or Rotella.

Napa, Carquest, Valvoline, all the same oil bottled by Ashland oil company.. I Usually run Carquest or GTX 10w40 with a quart of lucas always have had good luck but I change the oil every 1 to 2 runs depending on how hard the runs.

had an old timer derby guy tell me to run nothing but airplane engine oil. said he used aeroshell 15-50 and never had any issues when the engine would get extremely hot due to the oil being made to not breakdown under extremely high temps. havent ever tried it myself but thought i would share

Lots of opinions here with nothing to back them up. Maybe you guys should do some reading over at bobs the oil guy website.

just what jeff said. you must know how it's built. is it stock?, flat tappet? roller? bearing clearances? it's not about just slapping oil in it.

Cen-Pe-Co hands down. Best oil period. Pure parifin base oil that is refined like no other oil. Awesome, I mean awesome heat tolerance and the ability to keep its "film" under extreme pressures. Best i can explain it without getting super technical.

I do know Cen Pe Co uses around 2300 ppm of zinc in the grade of oil i run. I think the Brad Penn oil is only around 1500 ppm. I think in a derby engine, zinc is your best friend.

I always ran O'Reily synthetic and a qt of the Lucas sense O'Reily's came into my town. Put it in my 383 and changed it after the first derby and still spotless. sense than ive used it in my lawnmower and havent had a prob yet with it. lol

Found a case of Valvoline 15-30 in the trunk of a Galaxy that was given to me, so that is what I'll be running this year with a quart of lucas.
