We've always ran Lucas 20-50 racing oil in all of our stock car and derby car engines. Run Royal Purple in our daily drivers. Going to try some new stuff this year from a little local company who is starting to get their name out there. TJ Racing Oil from Brownsville, Ind.

So I have always run 15-40 and never had an issue, I always add a bottle of duralube to it but I was curious about maybe going to O'Reilly and getting their name brand synthetic and a bottle of duralube.. but on the other had the 15-40 I get is free.. what's the down side of running such a heavy oil?

Napa oil is valvoline just in a napa bottle. Had an uncle that worked at a napa store and they got a case of napa oil that had valvoline bottles inside. Oils are like everything else certain ones work for certain people.. I have ran a little bit of everything and never had trouble with any of them. My car rhis year will get rotela 1540 because I got it cheap at a farm sale.

Amsoil. Proven high quality oil. Also helps the motor run a slight bit cooler for a little while. I know of one person who has ran it in his derby car motor for 8 seasons now(about 3 derbys each season), and has changed the oil 3 times total since he started using it. Never had one problem. It is a little spendy, but is alot cheaper than rebuilding a whole motor.

penzoil is wax based and leaves wax deposits in your oil gallories in a motor that sits alot which means until your motor is warmed up and melts that deposit your runnin no oil in that galory, and last time i checked demo motors get a lot of shelf time

Slightly raised oil pressure. I started using 15w40 when my truck had a small drip from the oil pan gasket, not enough to do any harm, something like 2 very small drops a week or so, put the thicker diesel oil in there and the leak stopped, only down fall was my 83 f150 with a 351w went up in pressure about 3 pounds.before that I ran 5w30, been so long ago I forgot the brand, was whatever my grandpa bought.
