What do you use for clamps for the leafs? Do you just make your own drill holes through flat steel and use that or do you do anything different?

i do the same way. but i put main on 2 6x6 one on each end push them down as faas you canr and use clamps to pull them down We have built several sets, we alway put half the springs arched one direction and half arched the other direction back to back. Put your center pin in then start with either a BIG and I mean BIG vise or a couple big c-clamps and start near the center pin and work your way out to the end of the springs clamping them together as you go. When we were building them we could run 7 springs so we put 4 arched one direction and 3 arched the other direction.

Never done anything like that myself. But do a search, at top of the page. I'm sure you'll find some good info.

My existing leaf pack is a comboniation of stock Chrysler, Toyota and flat bar. If yo can get away with no stagger AMD multiple clamps du it. The front clamps are just as important as the rear clamps.

we took a package of seven out of a 3/4 ton chevy and switched the middle 3. left the top 2 and bottom 2 the right way. )() the looked like that if it makes any sense. we just put a piece of 1 inch all thread on both sides with a thick plate on top and bottom. do that on both end and we just kept tightening them down and it worked fine and was a lot easier than expected. we put a piece of like 5/15 or 3/8 all thread through all of the center holes and kept snugging the nuts up on it as we went to keep things in line and were successful.

I'm leafing an 85 GM wagon I've built my flat stacked leaf packs and used the lower control arm mount in the front to mount them to the frame. My question is what is the best/strongest way to mount them in the rear. shackles? hard mounted? Directly under the frame?

My question is what is the best/strongest way to mount them in the rear. shackles? hard mounted? Directly under the frame? I put the spring right up agaist the frame. I make my shackles and weld them to the frame. Better check your rules to be sure its allowed.
