My roll bar thats in it will be part of the cage when I'm done so i'm not to worried about it bending or breaking between the front wheels and the back wheels. I believe we're allowed two kickers off the dash bar to the front max 18" long. Sounds like my dash bar will be low and way forward. Thanks for the tip, I will for sure keep that in mind.[/quote]
Top Notch rules? If so where are you running i am interested in seeing how this frame holds up

It'll be a few county fairs, Swift county is talking about doing mini trucks next year and I know the guys that make the rules. Most of our local fairs don't really care what you run for a cage as long as its for drivers saftey. Frame breaking in half underneath my seat?... Ya, I'd say thats a safty concern. I gotta build a 2 W-bodies, 1 Camaro, 2 pintos, 1 Astro van, and a full size mod vic this year so the Nissan may have to wait till fall or next spring but I won't be shy about posting pics on here. I got nothing to hide.

If you know my area, Heavy trucks are basicly grain trucks with alot of plating. Light trucks are "1/2" tons with a crap ton of plating, and I don't see mini trucks being any different.

I was sitting in the stands watching this one and let me tell you, the blazer was basically done in one hit. Yes, I understand that it was north-to-south but if it won't last through that hit, then why put much money in it, right? If you just wanna wreck it, then chain, wire, bang and derby! www.youtube.com/watch?v=6B-8oSGNjkA

I was the guy in the Dakota that ran against that blazer. That first hit buckled the floor really bad in the back. he said it was almost touching his seat bar. He did have factory body bolts so changing them might help that problem. the front frame wasn't all that tough if you ask me. thats what took him out. I folded the front bumper up and pushed it into the pullies and locked the engine up. Like any kind of derby car or truck how much work your willing to put into it will decide what you get out of it. The dakota was my first truck i ever built and i tried some stuff that worked and some that didn't. I used it as a good learning build. now i know a few things to do different just by what and where it bent.

Did you paint that like a yellow color and run New London and the fall brawl at Huron County? If so man, that's a B.A. truck. I still say they are fullsize but y'all tore my ranger up.

no wasn't me. i painted the bed orange and ran it at the smash-it fall clean up show. Its actually for sale on here. the guy i build with listed it in the classifieds. They are pretty big for a compact truck but the are still considered a small truck. They take some work to make everything fit but they can be tough for sure. If we build another one watch out because we learned a few things from this one.

How would a mid-late 90's Ranger stack up, compared to an older, square body?
