Kelbz3x that is an awesome lookin ranger . we are able to run mini trucks with some compact cars down here how would an 88 ranger do against a lumina it will have a 9 inch with 456 gears and a c4 with a 200 hp 2.3 also does anyone wedge the ranger or just weld the square thanks for the info Sorry it took so long I'm never on here anymore, yeah if you build the ranger like I do you can drive thru a full welded lumina in 1 hit , my teammate wedged his this year to try n it was 12 inches off the ground, worked awesome, the one I posted is still straight up front but the back didn't fair so well after the 7 shows I ran with it this summer

vortec heads are different than earlier efi heads and much different than the old carb heads So it won't work then if I remember correctly edelbrock makes 2 different intakes for the 4.3. one is for the true vortec heads with only 8 manifold bolts and the other one fits all the rest with 12 manifold bolts. if I remember this correctly and its right then it should work if it has the same number of manifold bolts

^^^Or nobody wants to share any secrets yet. I'm going to give my 86.5 Nissan hard body a throw. It was my pride and joy until a year ago when the garage it was parked next to burnt down. Cant bring myself to scrap it until I give her one last thrashing. I'm not sure why people say these Jap trucks aren't any good. Super strait full box frame bumper to bumper, better bodies than an S10 or a ranger, short wedge shaped front end... Like I said, we'll see what she's got. In my neck of the woods we're allowed loaded bumpers, Full size bumper shocks, frame and seam welding bumper to bumper, and a pert near whatever you want for a cage between the wheels. I'm thinking narrow the front about a foot, 2.3 motor, th350 trans, slider, and a 8" ford rearend. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In my experience, it seems the Jap trucks all break the frame between the cab and box.. I've done it to 2 different 2wd Isuzus, a 2wd Toyota and a 4wd Nissan.. All were obviously MN trucks but I imagine yours is too; be careful with that thing lol. The one Isuzu was fine when I ran it, then 6 months later I picked it up with the Bobcat to put it on the trailer and it completely broke in half! Hopefully you can plate your frames....

ran my first one two months ago, when I built it I did it just like I would a fullsize truck welded a bumper on the front and rear a roll bar cage and went to town it was a 96 Sonoma the right front frame started to bend down just enough so I couldn't steer gonna plate it re-weld the tailgate and call it good for the next run

My roll bar thats in it will be part of the cage when I'm done so i'm not to worried about it bending or breaking between the front wheels and the back wheels. I believe we're allowed two kickers off the dash bar to the front max 18" long. Sounds like my dash bar will be low and way forward. Thanks for the tip, I will for sure keep that in mind.
