Any tips on fixing a whale tailed Mopar?
I ran what I consider the rustiest car on the planet. front is still straight but it bent super hard behind the tires. I can almost push the rear bumBer from eye level back to stock position by hand. car is a 77/78 Newport. I normally on fords and gm just cut the trunk off and just drive forward. but with the leaves I can't do that.
My theory is pull the rear shocks off and replace with square tube, bolt it tight then weld them solid to axle and remains of the crossmember.
Will this work or should I just cut my losses and scrap it?

Always get ahold of an excavator also and notch it and have excavator start rolling it until you can get chain come along on it to finish the roll. Once they whale tail its pretty well junk tude not much can bring it back to being usably decent but if you can nose it out. Good enough!

it was junk 15 years ago. i avoided hitting with the back like normal but the first bump sent it to the moon. front held up great but started bending infront of the a-arms to the right. in the middle of the rear door the car started bending pretty hard, and the rear piller got closer to the tire with every bump i hit on my venture to the track. i didnt realize the plate that the shocks were once upon a time were mounted to started pushing up and becomeing not welded to the hump section anymore.
so as far as i can tell is if this car was fairly clean the idea would have gave the car a decent run.

I cut leaf springs loose and cram quarters in deck lid behind rear end, package tray and let Springs fold around it

depending on where its bent pull it back down plate it. then try to give it a weaker point more towards the rear bumper to try to get it to roll. it will still probably shoot up but you could possibly fix it to where it can take a couple shots atleast.
