I'm in the process of buying a new Holley 4412 carb and was wondering if people prefer the circle track(4412ct) carb over the regular version? and if there's any main difference that make the circle track carb better for derby.

I'm in the process of buying a new Holley 4412 carb and was wondering if people prefer the circle track(4412ct) carb over the regular version? and if there's any main difference that make the circle track carb better for derby. There is no choke on the 4412CT, I know the 4412C and 4412S used to come with 74 Jets and 5.0 Power Valve and 4412CT with a 73 Jet and a 4.5 Power Valve but think they all come pretty much the same now. Really only difference is the finish and you don't have to wire the choke open. Believe they all come with 50cc accelerator pumps too now. Maybe they have a different cam on the Throttle linkage but it's been a while since I've looked at them side by side. So really, not really. The XP series of the 4412 and some of the quick fuel stuff (now also owned by Holley) realistically are more different from a base 4412, come with adjustable screw in air bleeds, adjustable metering blocks, better fuel bowls and some internal baffling to help fuel slosh, etc. Plus can flow a little more cfm. Alot of work to say, circle track is the safe bet and what most guys buy off the shelf. Can buy from a derby engine builder and probably get closer to something that runs better out of the box, or buy a holley kit with different power valves, Jets, etc. To really dial it in to your motor.

Not sure if your stuck on the 4412 carbs, but as mentioned best bet is to get one from your engine builder. BUT as far as off the shelf carbs i would highly recommend the 2G from JET performance. Bolted this carb on out of the box, adjusted the a/f screws and have not touched it going on 4 years now. Not a single carb issue, I just have a habit of running them dry when going to sit for a week and maybe thats been part of my luck.. Its bolted on a engine from a derby builder and he also thought it ran well when breaking it in. www.jegs.com/i/JET-Performance/561/37001/10002/-1
