What 2500 ram 4x4 has the better frame? 2nd or 3rd gen? From pics I can find it looks as though the frame is more level and straight on the gen 3.

A 3rd Gen 3/4 and 1 ton dodge is a fully boxed frame front to back. They are a very heavy duty frame. 2nd gens are like 88-98 chevy's and boxed up front to either the front or the back of the cab (can't remember which) and is c-channel there back. A 3rd Gen looks a lot tougher. I've only seen 1 2nd Gen run that I can remember and he had bad luck at the 2021 bash for cash. I can't remember if I've seen a 3rd Gen run though. Biggest problem I've found is everyone wants an arm and a leg for either of them, and body rot can be problematic. I drive a 05 3rd Gen 2500 diesel 4x4 daily and I've looked at the frame on it, even slightly wrecked it and the frame is straight and perfect. Barely starting to get surface rust on it with 408,000 miles and living in ohio its whole life. Body does have some typical 3rd Gen rust though.
