Curious what you guys prefer on your builds. Every one seems to be going to standing on edge. Im building a stock/ super stock and thought of changing my bars to 3/8s to gain some strength. If firewall if removed between them I can connect them.

I still run 2x2 tubing wide at the firewall and little narrower up at the roof line and then tied to my dash bar with straps and bars connecting them tight to the top of firewall so it can't teepee and angle iron tucked up lip of room tied into the window bars. And if allowed Johnny bar to halo bar. Alot of extra cutting and welding but I believe it helps the car

Around my area it has to be flat steel and can't be attached to halo or dash bar. Max is 3/8s thick 3 inch wide. Allowed 6 inchs on roof and 6 inchs on firewall.

Standing on edge is stronger forward and backwards, laying flat is stronger side to side. If you can connect them, that helps the side to side thing if they are standing on edge. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think window bar orientation will win or lose you much unless you are tying them in to something else

I've had them flex and bust caps and cut plug wires. Haven't had to many issues lately but looking at going thicker this new build so was picking brains on it. Always over thinking anything I change from normal ways in my builds.

I don’t run a firewall so mine goes from dash bar to roof and a couple inches. Sometimes to halo just all what kind of mood I’m in at the time

I run two 1 inch solid bars that are connected at the top, spread at the bottom and then weld 2 inch angle from the dash bar to the firewall on each side of the cutout
