Whats my best choice. Fairly stockish rules. Allowed 10" bumper shocks, bumper swaps, steering swaps, arm and spindle swaps, and lower engine cradles. No trans protectors, tilting, or leaf conversions. Whats everyone's thoughts? I have build 03 and newer vics and a 1990 vic last year but never messed with older Ford cars besides suicides but those are not even in the same category.

If "pre ran" rules generally state ford to ford gm to gm ect. Gotta play them gray areas especially at crossmember your allowed a plate for mounting crossmember anyway so buttweld it and use that plate. Good to go.

Wagon for me. Take shackles off the leaf hanger and bolt through the frame itself. I'd probably leave stock bumper on the back, but put a 74 Duster bumper on, welded straight to the frame with no brackets when I built my 62 sedan. For the front, I'd weld bumper shocks on top of the frame either Mopar fronts or Ford I beams with a solid, but relatively flat front bumper. I used Mopar shocks on top of the frame and a 74 Duster bumper, but was allowed to close the C channel with 3/8 plate. It just started to give a little bit near the spring pockets. This was for a limited weld that I ran 3 times before all the protectors came into play at my local fair and I parked the car. Would still love to build a 58-64 for a stock class though.

What shows are you building for if its a show with stirn dirt rules and I see the 10" bumper brackets in your post so it makes me think it is I would take the vic if you are going to heber utc or nephi I would take the merc. Im taking a merc to heber this year the new rules brad and ryan have let you build a mean old ford/merc. Side note if you ever decide you want to sell the merc im intrested

Most likely it will sit and wait for another year or another show.

more rules? GTP? Cage/to frame? Hump plates? 9 wire? Heats/one and done? Fix it plates? Gtp are allowed but have to be no more than 36" wide and can't be within 4" of any sheet metal. No cage to frame, no hump plates, no 9 wire allowed. Not 1 and done heats. Allowed 8 6x4 plates once its ran a heat
