I'm pretty sure this will work but for some reason i'm having a hard time convincing myself about it...
I have a 73 rivy i'm going to make a sleeper car out of. I wanna put a posi lock and gears into it. Has a 12 bolt bolt in it now. Was going to take a 10 bolt bolt in and put a 30 spline posi lock with low 3 gear ratio and put the axles out of the 12 bolt in it. Should work because that is what i have in my 10/12 rears right?

Why don't you just put rear from a chevelle in and c clip eliminaters you wont break them thrashing it around on the street especially if your under 600hp and they are still easily obtainable and most have a good gear already but yes your idea would also work hypothetically

If it was me, I would find a 91-96 GM wagon rear end. They are 8.5 inch ring gear, factory 30 spline axles, and very common to find with a factory GM locker. You may have to move the spring perches for driver purposes, or use metric GM trailing arms, but I think it would be less work and easier to find.
