I'm running a ford 351m with an HEI distributor and cant get the engine to turn over with my push button. But if I bypass my starter solenoid it turns over just fine. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Is the solenoid grounded?

Ditch the solenoid and use a heavy duty push button.

Try swapping the battery/ starter wires around on the solonoid. When we ran them fords years ago, there was a defective solonoid (brand new). Flipped wires and fired up.

Ditch the solenoid and use a heavy duty push button. Never do this. Always run a solenoid.
