Hi I have a 73 Malibu, wanting tomorrow know what springs I should run under it to get the front end up. Any tips on it would be awesome, I’m not sure if I’m going to run stock or semi stock. Thanks

Thanks What's your suspension rule. Are you allowed to remove bump stops and bolt A arms solid. Or weld a arms down at max height. You can remove shock and run all thread where shock used to be double nutting both sides where it touches metal so its solid that way to. Lots of ways you can do.it that are easier and faster than changing springs

I think we have to leave springs but we’re allowed to weld solid I didn’t know if there was a negative side to welding my suspension sold or not. Heard positives and negatives on it. The rules meeting is on the 29th will know more then.

Always weld when allowed. Unless you run in a very Sandy track thenthere's perks to working suspension. If your allowed i would. Certainly more than 1 way to weld it also that strengthens a gm

It’s probably going to be a pretty muddy track, which way would you prefer to get it as strong as possible? Ran a lot of w bodies but this is my first full-size

Im personally not a fan of solid suspension on stock builds. Basically any big block spring from a fullsize will stand the front of the car up. Ive even put the coil springs out of a 80s F350 in a 76 Malibu before. If you dont have access to that, Ive even had good luck with the biggest screw in spring spacers from oreillys and just put 3 on top of one another in per side.

Weld strap from bottom a arm up by firewall at angle towards s curves. Then take strap from upper a arm and angle it down and towards front of wheel as far as rules allow. That's right where its gonna wanna bend once you pre load and pressure the rails on a metric gm. Doesn't require any protectors to do so

I think the a arms and spindles are weak for stock builds, yrs ago I ran a couple and changed them to fullsize 75 impala ex. I used to put pulleys up above spring as spacer but also to support spring pocket. This was before Id ever heard of tilting and we werent allowed solid suspension. They were tough and fun to drive cars even unbuilt
