Any DRIVER under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be DISQUALIFIED AND REMOVED from premises.
Each driver must fill out an entry form at the back gate the day of the derby. Each driver must supply his or her own vehicle and only ONE entry per class per driver.
Drivers must be 16 years or older to enter. Drivers under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or guardian sign a waiver
Nobody allowed on the track except the drivers, officials and emergency personnel. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Any driver or crew member disobeying the rules will cause his or her vehicle to be disqualified. Drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew.
Contestants of the derby cannot be superintendents or officials of the Vermillion County Fair Demolition Derby.
The Vermillion County Fair Association will not be held responsible for any vehicles or personal property before, during and after the show.
Infield and pit speeds will be enforced. No hot-rodding, donuts, or other unsafe driving will be tolerated. These practices can be grounds for disqualification with entry fee forfeited.
Any altercations between drivers, crew, or officials will be grounds for disqualifications and possibly being barred from future derbies.
If a DRIVER EXITS THEIR VEHICLE DURING A GREEN FLAG for any reason other than fire or injury, they will be disqualified and position and money can be taken away at Official’s discretion.
It is the DRIVER who qualifies, NOT the car
Contestants are to use the North Fairgrounds Entrance, please.
The Vermillion County Fair Association reserves the right to accept or reject any or all entries.
DECISIONS OF OFFICIALS ARE FINAL!!!!!
Remember: just because it is not in print, don't mean it is allowed.
Call BEFORE you do it. Inspection crew has final ruling.
BASIC RULES
1. These rules are a guideline that specifies what we will allow, it does not specify what we will not allow. If not listed here, call before you do it. Do not ask us to show you in the rules where it is. Call First!!
2. Due to a Fair ordinance, No firearms, knives, or weapons of any kind will be allowed.
3. DOT approved Helmet MUST be worn while on the track. Eye Protection and Long Sleeve Shirts are highly recommended.
4. Car must have working seat belts for the driver & must be worn during the heat.
5. If you are using a torch, you must have a fire extinguisher with you.
6. NO gangbanging & NO sandbagging! – If you don’t know what this is, you better ask.
7. Must make contact within 60 seconds if you are having mechanical problems or hung up, otherwise, you must make AGGRESSIVE contact!!! We use our own discretion for this rule. If a driver is really hitting well, he may get more time, if a driver is love tapping, he may get less, so get used to it. Sandbagging is not tolerated and will be strictly enforced. Locking up the brakes prior to a hit for anything other than a driver’s door as a defense will be a cause for disqualification. THE FANS PAY TO SEE A SHOW. PUT ONE ON FOR THEM.
8. One (1) warning for driver’s door contact, 2nd time you are eliminated! Driver’s door hits are illegal. If the hit is deemed by the official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified. If you use your driver’s door as a defense, we will not enforce the rule. If you do it repeatedly, you will be disqualified.
9. One (1) fire is allowed, second fire you are disqualified. One (1) fire in passenger compartment and you will be disqualified. If a door comes open you are disqualified. You may return in the consolation heat.
10. If you are caught cheating, you get NOTHING back, so don’t ask!!!
11. Drivers will be assigned heats as they enter in a predetermined pattern that varies show to show.
12. Please take all scrap with you! All items (including vehicles) left on Fairgrounds the next day WILL BECOME PROPERTY OF THE VERMILLION COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION.
13. ALL drivers must attend the drivers meeting – ANY controversies must be brought up at the drivers meeting or not at all!
14. OFFICIALS HAVE THE RIGHT TO REINSPECT ANY VEHICLE AT ANY TIME. We reserve the right to cut or drill anything in question at any time. Failure to allow this will result in disqualification
15. We will stop a heat to remove bumpers, wheels with axels or any other debris for safety reasons.
16. All drivers must keep their hands inside the car at all times! If we see you driving with your hand on your door we will stop the race once, next time you're out. We want everyone to leave with all the body parts they came with!
17. All glass, plastic, chrome, wheel weights, and loose debris must be removed from the car. All hitches must be removed. The stock gas tank MUST be removed.
18. No concrete anywhere on the car.
19. DRIVER ONLY must bring car to inspection unless pre-approved by head official.
20. SAFETY FIRST: No unsafe practices like protruding all thread, radiator drain hoses pointed at people, and teeth cut into the bumpers, etc. If a bumper or something comes loose during the race and appears to be a safety concern, we reserve the right to act and correct it.
21. ENGINE / TRANSMISSION MUST BE ISOLATED FROM THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WITH STEEL, FIRE BLANKET, RUBBER, OR APPROVED FIRE RESISTANT MATERIAL IF FIREWALL / FLOORBOARDS ARE MODIFIED.
22. Once again, OFFICIALS DECISION IS FINAL, so if unsure if you can do something, please call ahead.
23. If putting patches on frame after heats, consult an Official before you put any band-aid on your car before Feature run. Remember, ASK BEFORE YOU DO IT!!
24. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLEAR THE TRACK OF ANY VEHICLES DURING A HEAT OR FEATURE FOR ANY REASON WE DEEM NECESSARY

GENERAL RULES
Radiator Guards: Stock A.C. condenser or piece of light expanded metal mounted with 4 3/8” bolts only to front side of core support, or in front of radiator, 1” overlay.), NO PROTECTORS OF ANY KIND ON ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. Pulley Protector allowed or stabilizer bar but not both.
Frames:
Re-Clipping of cars allowed, 1-inch overlap with no additional materials, single pass only. Clips must match make & model
1. 2 plates on a fresh car. 6 plates total and must be bent in additional 4 spots. plates are 4” x 6” x ¼” maximum. Plates must remain flat, not contoured.
2. No seam welding, pinning, filling, stuffing or painting.
3. Rust holes may be covered with a 4” x 6” x ¼” plate. They will count towards your 6 allowed plates.
4. Pre-rans will be allowed 6 plates – 4” x 6” x ¼” if needed.
5. No frame shaping other than 12” in the center of each hump.
6. Only allowed method of pitching is to cold bend.
7. You may chain the frame rails together behind the humps. No homemade washers.
Suspension:
1. Steering box swaps allowed. No welding on frame, keep mounts minimal.
2. Built Tie rods allowed. Must mount and perform like factory
3. A-arms and spindles may be changed, but must be OEM parts. Any factory spindle is ok. No homemade or aftermarket parts with the exception of 98 and newer Ford cars may do the Watts Link conversion with ZTR style brackets. No additional metal may be added other than the brackets themselves.
4. A-arms may be bolted down with one ½” bolt per a-arm. No homemade washers. A 2” x 4” x 1/4” strap may be welded, 1 per rail to the spring bucket only.
5. Aftermarket steering shafts allowed.
6. Rear trail arms can be shortened or lengthened but not braced. Single hardware washers may be welded around the rear hole of the upper trail arms.
7. Rearend may be chained around the frame in 1 spot per side.
8. Factory size, number and stagger will apply to factory leaf spring cars. 5 clamps per side, 2 3/8” bolts per clamp. Clamps no wider than 2”. No welding of leafs. Must be OEM frame, shackles and hardware.
9. Vehicles must sit level. No extreme height or you won’t run. Safety First!
10. Suspension bushings must remain in place and unmodified.
Body Mounts:1. Core support mounts must mount in factory location but may be replaced with up to 1” allthread and ran through the hood. May be bolted solid or you may use a free-floating spacer. Spacers not to exceed 2” x 2” tubing.2. 4 rear body mounts can be bolted solid. 2 of those may have 1” allthread ran vertically through the trunk lid. Wagons may go through the roof or pillars through rearmost body mount only, but if you do that don’t use 2 pieces to hold the tailgate shut.3. Core support and trunk washers may not exceed 4” x 4”.4. Mopar allthread can either go through the frame or be welded to the side. Must be on the flat part of the rear frame under the trunk pan.5. No double nutting or sleeving the allthread.6. Body mounts from firewall to the humps may be changed. Only in factory locations. Only allowable substitution is to use a bolt no bigger than 1”. Must have rubber bushing with steel sleeve or you may use a hockey puck. Hardware washers only on the mounts from firewall to humps. Body mounts can go through top of frame only. No solid spacers, can stack washers.
Drivetrain:1. Any motor or transmission in any vehicle.2. Engine cradles are allowed, but must not go past the third spark plug from the front. All your basic Robbo, Big Rock, XXX & Cry Baby cradles are allowed. No additional bracing or welds to the car. 3. Solid lower engine mounts are allowed. If you need to weld plates under your lower mounts because they won’t sit on the engine crossmember that’s fine, but they must not be attached to the frame rails.4. If you choose to chain your engine in, the chains must only be attached to the engine and straight down to engine crossmember.
5. Skid plates must be just for the pan they are protecting and can’t extend more than ½” from their pan.6. You may run an aluminum ultra or a steel bell on automatics. Manual transmissions may run a blow proof bell housing. No additional bolts or welding permitted. If you’re using a bolt on style transmission mount, it must be an O.E.M. rubber mount. If you choose to not run a mount, you may wrap chain or wire around transmission and cross member to hold it in place. NO WELDING and only one bolt if you choose the wire or chain route. NO BRACING, NO TUNNEL ALTERATIONS, 6" GAP BETWEEN TRANNY AND CAGE BAR. 7. If you choose to not run the factory transmission cross member you may use 2” x 2” tubing instead. It must mount in factory make and model location. No plates bigger than 4” x 4” welded to the frame to weld your cross member to!!!8. Slider shafts are allowed.9. We will allow 1 transmission cooler and 1 engine cooler. a) Transmission coolers must be near floor level or contained. Steel or high pressure lines only. 10. 4x4 allowed, but must remove 1 driveshaft
Battery: must be moved inside the passenger compartment area and tightly fastened with a cover. You may use 2 automotive batteries or 1 large marine battery. a) Battery and Gas Tank must be in separate areas and covered (Not next to each other) OR in separate containment boxes.Gas Tank: must be mounted inside the passenger compartment, tightly secured, and covered. Plastic tanks must be in a solid metal containment box & covered or you will not be allowed to participate. No exceptions. (We strongly recommend metal tanks!). Absolutely NO STOCK FUEL TANKS or stock fuel lines. Secure new fuel line properly inside of the driver’s compartment, not underneath car. Keep away from exhaust. Gas tank protectors must be mounted to the cage or the floor pan, not both. Gas tank protector if on cage must be a "halo" type bar only, 10” gap required from the rear firewall and no more than 30” wide in the center of the car. If floor mounted and not connected to sheet metal in any way (bolted or welded). Electric fuel pumps must be double clamped and covered. NO electronic fuel pumps without a full cutoff switch.Brakes: must be working – be prepared to demonstrate. Violators will not be allowed to participate if this occurs before or during the eventsRadiators: must remain in stock position with no reinforcement. Bumper/Bumper Mounting:1. Any O.E.M. bumper may be used and it may be loaded on the inside if you choose. Homemade Bumpers: You are allowed to run a 1/4" spec bumper. Can be up to 8”x8”x1/4" box tubing. If you make pointy" you have to have it where it is the same dimensions as factory Chrysler pointy. Judge’s decision on safety of homemade bumpers is final. No Small wedges allowed, ones that look like a wood splitting wedge. No sharp edges. Bumpers cannot be wider than the vehicle.2. Bumpers may be plated on the inside and on the backing of the bumper. 3. Any front bumper bracket may be used on any car. If you choose to, you may make your shocks out of 3" x 4" x 1/4" box tubing max, no more than 6" behind core support. 1 shock per corner.4. Absolutely no bracket or shock may be welded past 6” behind the back of the core support. If your car’s factory shock or bracket goes farther than 6” back, it must remain completely factory beyond the allotted 6”.5. If you choose to hard nose or put your shock inside the frame you MUST have a ¾” hole in the top center of your frame 6” behind the factory core support mount hole on the frame rail. (unless we can clearly see the shock stops where it is supposed to). You may weld a ¾” hardware washer around the hole to make up for the missing metal. Single pass only!6. Rear bumper brackets may be welded, single pass only. Absolutely no rear bracket may be moved forward.7. Rear bumper shock specification: Any rear bumper bracket may be used on any car. If you choose to, you may make your shocks out of 3" x 4" x 1/4" box tubing max, no more than 6". 1 shock per corner. Absolutely no bracket or shock may be welded past 6” behind the bumper. If your car’s factory shock or bracket goes farther than 6” back, it must remain completely factory beyond the allotted 6”.
8. a 2” x 1/4" strap, one per end of each rail top or bottom, not both. Allow 6” from end of rail to mountCage:1. 4 point cages are allowed. Must be a minimum of 6” above the factory body mount height. 2. 3” x 3” max down bars front can be welded or bolted to topside of frame only. Rear down bars can be bolted through the frame. Allowed a single bolt to mount rear down leg or can be welded. No down bars in front of dash bar.3. 4 down legs are allowed to the frame or body must be no further back than the rear spreader and no further forward than the front door inner seam. 4. Roll over bars must be vertical and no further back than the rear spreader bar (maximum of 6” behind the seat). You will only be allowed to attach bar to roof with 2 bolts no bigger than 1”. Washers must not exceed 4” x 4”. No bars beyond the spreader bar or rollover bar except gas tank protector.
5. Driver seat needs to be within 6” of factory seat location.
Body:1. Sheet metal may be cut for clearance, but no bending, folding or reattaching anywhere. Body creasing is allowed, but absolutely no bolting or welding to assist.2. You may use five 3/8” bolts per wheel well opening. Hardware washers only. Absolutely no other bolting of the body other than the bolts allowed in the hood. 3. You are allowed 6, 2” x” 4” x1/4” plates to weld trunk shut. Must be at least a 1” gap between plates. You may weld a 1” hardware washer around each hole to keep from tearing only when wire is used. Washers can’t bridge any body gap.4. Wagons tailgates may have 2 pieces of 1” allthread, but the allthread must be through the body only and NOT the frame.5. The only acceptable body rust repair on any car is allowed in the driver and passenger area. This is for safety purposes only, and if we think you used this to strengthen the car for anything other than safety purposes you will not be allowed to run.6. Doors may be welded solid with strap no bigger than 4” x 1/8”. Tops of doors may be folded over and welded, but no added metal. Absolutely no other body seam welding besides doors!! Driver’s door only minor reinforcement allowed. Can’t go beyond door seam and 12” wide and cannot attach to the rocker.7. Window Braces: Car must have #9 wire from the cowl to the roof to prevent the hood from entering car. All window openings #9 wire only- no bars, no straps.8. Hood must be open during inspection.9. No wedged cars allowed 10. Sedagons will be allowed, wire only11. In addition to the 2 pieces of allthread in the core support, you will be allowed 4 more bolts to hold the hood down. Must be body to body only and the washers must not exceed 4” x 4”. Or you may use #9 wire 12. No more than 10, 3/8” bolts to hold your outer hood skin to your inner hood skin.13. Unlimited #9 wireTires: Any wheel/tire combination is allowed, except NO split rims. a) No add-on metal protruding from axle or wheel assembly past the studs or nuts
Must have the number on a roof sign on the roof, a minimum of 24” tall or we will spray paint the number on the top of the vehicle so the Judges can see it. No PROFANITY or OFFENSIVE material including numbers allowed!!! This is a family show! Any number or lettering on any car must be approved by the Derby Superintendent.We strongly suggest that you have roll over protection for Safety!!!
RULES FOR 2021 RC DERBY (Adam Cash)
Stock Class
Traxxas Slash or any 2wd 1/10 scale no 4wd
Maximum length 26 inches
Maximum width 12 inches
Height minimum 5 inches at top of fender to ground
Front bumper must be 2 inches from ground
Weight: no more than 7 pounds including battery
Stock plastic parts only, lower center of gravity chassis are allowed
Maximum battery 7600 MAH no double batteries
Body: must be made of aluminum (coil stock) must be able to be bent with fingers. No more than 3 layers thick at joints. The body must be connected to the 4 stock body mounts and can be attached to the front skid plate. Must look like a derby car, no wedge or shoebox bodies. You can sedagon a pre-ran wagon. Must have windows and look like a real derby car. No doubled bodies
Cage: ¾ x ¾ x 1/16 can be aluminum angle or 3 layer coil stock. The cage can’t go past the front or rear body mounts. Halo bars are recommended but not required.
Bumpers: no stuffed bumpers, can be made from 1/16 aluminum c-channel or coil stock, can be a pointy bumper but must not exceed 3/4 inch from front of straight bumper
Roof signs are optional
Class rules: the 1st ten minutes there will be unlimited saves then after that you get 2 saves and then you are out.

LIMITED WELD FULL SIZE CAR
No Imperials or Imperial Sub-Frames. Passenger cars or station wagons only. No hearses, checkered cabs, or limousines. Cars may be re-subbed, but must be ford-ford, Gm-Gm, Chrysler-Chrysler, and must be done in a factory manner. Sedagons will be allowed.
1. Any factory car or truck rearend is allowed. No rear ends bigger than a 3500 series pickup permitted and only one wheel per side of rearend. You may weld brackets on the rear end to accommodate the vehicles factory suspension style. Rearend brace cannot go past inside edge of lower trail arm mount or inside edge of leaf spring pad.
2. All will follow the same safety rules and regulations listed in the general rule section.
3. 2003 and newer Ford style frame rules These apply to the front frame and suspension assemblies. All other general and limited weld rules apply unless contradicted by these specific rules. Factory style Ford steering box swaps are allowed. No sleeving of bolts through frame. Bumper strap only allowed 1 per rail and must go no further back than back of core support mount and not intrude into the factory crush zone. No frame pitching or cold bending allowed. No fresh plates on the car. Front suspension must remain factory stock for the 03 and up style cars. No modifications unless allowed in these rules. Factory aluminum cradle must remain in place. Only alterations that are allowed is to put a 1/4” steel cap over it. This is allowed on the top, front and rear of the cradle only. 2 - 2” straps are allowed to be welded across the bottom bridging the front and rear caps. This strap is allowed 1” overlap max. Cap must inboard of the frame rails and have a visible gap between it and the rails. Only method of attachment to the cradle is to utilize the factory rack and pinion holes and the factory motor mount holes. These are the only allowed methods of running a 03 and up Ford in the limited weld class.
We strongly suggest that you have roll over protection for Safety!!!
LIMITED WELD FULL SIZE TRUCK CLASS
1. Gas tank protection can be 36 inches from front of bed and can be full width of bed.
2. Bed may be welded to cab.
3. You are allowed 6, 2” x” 4” x1/4” plates to weld tailgate or rear hatch shut. Must be at least a 1” gap between plates. Tailgates in stock location.
4. You may fold bedsides over but can only be attached by 8 double strands of 9 wire.
5. If you choose to "tuck" a suburban or other long roof vehicle you may only attach roof to quarter panels with 8 strands of 9 wire.
6. Bumper height is a maximum of 26 inches to the bottom of the front bumper and a minimum of 18 inches to the bottom of the rear bumper.
7. No leaf spring conversions.
8. Seam welding allowed, single pass only. No wider than 1/2 inch.
9. 4X4 allowed but must remove front or rear drive shaft
We strongly suggest that you have roll over protection for Safety!!!
MINI TRUCK/MINI SUV (will run with Minivans)
Gas tank protector if on cage must be a "halo" type bar 30” long and no more than 30” wide in the center of the vehicle.
1. 4 cyl or 6 cyl only! Engine swaps permitted
2. Any factory car or truck rear end is allowed. 6-lug maximum
3. You are allowed 6, 2” x” 4” x1/4” plates to weld tailgate or rear hatch shut. Must be at least a 1” gap between plates. Tailgates in stock location.
4. No wedged trucks/suvs allowed. Want them to look like trucks.
We strongly suggest that you have roll over protection for Safety!!!
MINIVANS (will run with Mini Truck/Mini SUV class)
Front Wheel Drive & Rear Wheel Drive allowed
1. 4 cyl or 6 cyl only! Engine swaps permitted
2. Gas tank protector if on cage must be a "halo" type bar 30” long and no more than 30” wide in the center of the minivan.
3. All will follow the same safety rules and regulations listed in the general rule section.
4. You are allowed 6, 2” x” 4” x1/4” plates to weld rear hatch shut. Must be at least a 1” gap between plates.
We strongly suggest that you have roll over protection for Safety!!!
MIDSIZE CLASS
1. All will follow the same safety rules and regulations listed in the general rule section.
2. 105-1/16th” wheelbase to 113-15/16” factory wheel base will be in the mid-size class
a) Front Wheel drive and Rear Wheel drive are allowed
b) No full-frame cars
3. 4 cyl or 6 cyl only! Engine swaps permitted
4. All bushings must remain in place for suspension cross member or k-frame or may be replaced with hockey pucks.
We strongly suggest that you have roll over protection for Safety!!!
COMPACT CLASS
1. All will follow the same safety rules and regulations listed in the general rule section.
2. 4 cyl or 6 cyl only! Engine swaps permitted

The best show so far had a blast junking the ass out of a box Ford till my transmission gave up it will be ready for the next show good job brain keep up the good work hope we can get rid of the circus and you put on one more good show this year at cayuga maybe a November show like old times
