Ford 9" is a bolt in axle... its held in by a retainer plate just behind the brake pads. if your axle breaks it wont slide out. you can at least roll around on it. Mopar 9 1/4 is a C-clip axle .... its only held in by the c-clip behind the diff cover. if your axle breaks... it will slide out and you will be dragging the axle housing on the ground... may as well snap your stick at this point...

Exactly, if you are in a hurry and I don't recommend this you can carefully weld your bearing to your 9 1/4 axle and get a hill Billy bolt in LOL

or weld the c clip to axel.lmao That is true but if you weld the bearing and it breaks where it normally does which is by the splines it can't walk out. Welding the c clip just stops the clip from coming off.

9 1/4 has c-clip axles stock....so ford 9 inch would be better choice.
