I bought a used one and have the same problem. Are the steel tails thicker where they bolt on?

I bought a used one and have the same problem. Are the steel tails thicker where they bolt on? Most are made with steel tails in mind, but transmission cases vary from tranny to tranny in length. It is why many vendors now send braces with the front of plate just tacked in, to trim or shim as necessary. I'd say no parts manufacture is perfect, but GM wasn't either with castings

had to shorten or some would come with a plate that slides over the tail.(only if you have a aftermarket tail) have to trim it out some to go over tranny mount area. then you slide the brace over the tail and install...IS it a skeleton brace or contoured?
