How do I go about folding the bedsides on my truck? Just start beating with a hammer? Is there anything or anywhere I should cut?

1st, make sure your allowed to. A lot of derbies don't allow it nowadays.
You're not gonna get the results you want with a hammer. Use a strap to pull the besides together as tight as you can get them. Use a sledge to make relief bends on the inside of the bed where you'd like it to bend. I myself would use allthread up through the frame, through the bedside, and tie it down as tight as you can get it. This gives to an extra bedmount, and makes it stronger.

I can do it. I was also going to run the all thread through it. Should I lay the tailgate in the bed and fold the sides on top of it or forget about the tailgate? Thanks for the info.

Use the tailgate. It acts as a big washer for the bedsides and helps to suck them down tight.
