Hi.
I'll be running a 1983 Ford Grand Marquis in a stock/wire show. The rules are pretty basic, no welding, bumper can be bolted with grade 8 bolts, can swap engine/trans... Pretty basic.
I usually runs 350/Th350 combo and use the stock crossmember and dont have to move it. This year, I'll be running a TH400. Since the TH400 seems longer, I'll probably have to move the crossmember further back.
Instead of the original crossmember, I can use a 1" thick X 3" wide flat bar (rules). Wha twould you guys recommand?
Thoughts?
Thanks,

are you able to just use 6" of angle welded to each side of frame and move the original and bolt back in place?

I've cut the factory brackets off the frame and moved them for stock class builds.

Somebody told me that you can take them out and flip it end for end so the trans mount tab the cross member is on the back side.
Idk, we always used square tube to make a cross member.

See if you can weld the angle iron on like stated and find a p71 cross member.
