I'm trying to help my buddy out who runs fuel injected 302s. He has quite the impressive DIY setup because he pulled out the entire harness out of a 88 towncar and with the car running preceded to undo every harness plug to see what the motor needed to stay running. Turns out the only plugs the motor needs are the 2 round plugs behind the intake, distributor, and MAP sensor. There are probably 6 grounds he has to keep and tie together and a few power wires tied together. He then just moves his harness and computer to all 3 302s he currently has in different cars. Anyway, he has had no problems over the last 2 years and 10 or so shows, however last show I hit him moderately in his rear and his car died (which is really really rare) and a huge fire shot out of his passenger side stack. He tried cranking for the next 30 seconds and it still had a small fire coming out of the stack but wouldn't start. The officials got him out the car. 10 minutes later when the show was over, it started but it took a little bit of cranking. We are guessing it must have had a stuck injector (s), but we can't figure out why. Any ideas or pointers? The setup doesn't have O2 sensors or temp sensors.
